Summary of Duties
Responsible for (1) Travel: representing the University at secondary schools and colleges and speaking to guidance counselors, students and parents at special on and off-campus events; (2) Interviewing: speaking to prospective students and their families during campus visits, as well as arranging and overseeing visits of students on campus; (3) Record Keeping: processing data and reviewing applications for admission; maintaining detailed records of work activity; (4) Contact with Students: develop and maintain a relationship with prospective students and applicants through telephone, e-mail, letter correspondence; (5) Liaison with Academic Departments: working with selected academic departments and offices at Marywood to gain knowledge to share with the Admissions staff and the University’s public; (6) Assist in planning special events; (7) Other duties as assigned.
Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
Must possess valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, public speaking skills. Prolonged standing and must be able to carry and move Admissions’ display and materials.
A fundamental concern for individuals and their families as they pertain to and fit into various educational programs. Since this individual is one of the principal persons responsible for the projection of the public image of Marywood, the counselor plays an important role within the institution. In addition to these elements, a counselor is expected to adhere to the Principles of Good Practice of the National Association of College Admissions Counseling.
