Summary of Duties

Marywood University invites applicants for the position of Dean of the Reap College of Education and Human Development.  The College houses undergraduate and graduate programs in education, counseling and psychology (including a doctoral program in clinical psychology), and communication sciences and disorders. We seek an experienced academic leader with vision and determination to lead a dynamic and growing College. The Dean reports to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.  The position is available in January or July 2014. 

The Dean provides strategic, academic, and visionary leadership for both the collaborative and programmatic needs of the college, fosters excellence in teaching, research, grantsmanship, and service, and is responsible for academic, fiscal, and personnel matters. The Dean is the primary advocate for the College within the University and at local, regional, national, and international levels. Candidates must have the ability to maintain and strengthen ties with the community.

The Reap College of Education and Human Development, one of four Colleges at the University, supports four accredited academic programs in Education (NCATE), Counseling (CACREP), Psychology (APA) and Speech-Language Pathology (ASHA). In addition, the College supports the Domiano Early Childhood Center, Fricchione Day Care Center, Psychological Service Center, and the Speech-Language- Hearing Clinic.

Requirements

  • Educational:

    Required Qualifications:

    • Knowledge and experience of at least one of the programs within the college
    • Knowledge and experience in teaching, research, and scholarship including demonstrated ability in procuring grants;
    • Knowledge and experience in accreditation of professional programs
    • A doctoral degree from an accredited university within one of the discipline areas in the College
    • Record of outstanding academic achievement and qualifications to hold the rank of associate or full professor
    • Five years of academic administrative experience, including management of personnel resources, faculty mentoring, budget management, academic program evaluation, and assessment of student learning
