Founders' Day

The Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary were founded on November 10, 1845 in Monroe, Michigan by Sr. Theresa Maxis Duchemin, IHM and Fr. Louis Florent Gillet, CSsR.

As we look forward to Marywood University’s Centennial in 2015, select one or more of the following to honor our IHM foundations and legacy.

• Visit the Sisters of IHM website.
• Enjoy Chartwell's special IHM Founders' Day dessert station in the Main Dining Room, Friday, November 9.
• Join the Sisters for a prayer service at the IHM Center on Wednesday, November 14, at 6:30 p.m.
• Discover how Gillet Lane, Morgan Road, Conway Circle, Maxis Lane, and the other roads on campus are related to the IHM foundations of Marywood University.
• Say a prayer in gratitude for the IHM Sisters who had the vision to found Marywood.
• Ask an IHM Sister about her life.
• Participate in Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
• Get involved in the Thanksgiving adopt-a-family program.
• Participate in the Christmas giving tree program.
• Give the gift of life at the Red Cross Blood Drive in the Latour Room on Thursday, November 15, 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
• Strive for excellence in your work!
• Participate in the Veterans’ Day events on campus, November 9, 11, and 12.
• Do something that models "living responsibly in an interdependent world."
• Take a virtual tour and learn about the Rotunda murals.
• Study and apply one of the themes of Catholic social teaching.
• Invite someone to join you for Mass, adoration, or a service activity.
• Expand your world! Join our international students for an Interfaith Dialogue Forum, Monday, November 12, noon to 2 p.m., Room 113, LAC; the International Dinner, Wednesday, November 14, Latour Room, 5-7 p.m.; and/or a Cultural Exposition, Thursday, November 15 in the Rotunda.
