Office of Academic Success: About Our Tutors

Marnie Azzarelli

Major: English
Minor: Women's Studies
Interests: I like to read large novels, write short stories, and watch horror movies.

I think the the Writing Center is a great place to learn and grow as a writer, and as a college student.

Molly Boylan

Major: English
Minor: Journalism, Women's Studies
Interests: writing, reading, laughing, volunteering, being with friends, writing letters (yes, snail mail)

I love getting to know people through their papers. I have already met so many new people because of working in the writing center. I have really learned to love talking to people about their papers. For me, I am there to be a sounding board for students to talk about their ideas and what works or doesn't work in their papers. It's more of a conversation than a consultation.

Sarah Cruz

Major: English
Minors: Writing, Women's Studies, and Art History

Interests: Reading, Writing, Traveling, Educational Television

The Writing Center is an invaluable tool for any student who wants to improve their writing whether it be smaller assignments or in-depth research papers. Anyone can come in at any point in the writing process whether it's for advice on first drafts or just proofreading finished drafts.

Noelle Kozak

Major: English
Minor: Writing, Women's Studies, History, Comprehensive Social Sciences
Interests: writing, reading, watching movies, and drinking copiouos amounts of coffee

Writing, thinking, and thinking about writing make up a large part of what we do here at Marywood University. But, sometimes, even the best writers need help tying up loose ends or polishing a draft. No matter what sort of writer you are, the writing center is here to help you make your paper the best version of itself.

Claire Monaghan

Major: Social Work
Interests: music, reading, traveling, being with friends and family

Megan Nastelli

Major: Communication Sciences and Disorders

Interests: playing tennis and basketball, working out, reading, going to the beach, spending time with friends, watching the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens

I think the writing center is a great resource for all students. Discussing a paper and/or having someone else review it with you is great for the writing process. The writing center provides a laid back and comfortable setting for students to drop in and discuss their papers with student tutors who are dealing with similar sorts of stress. I really enjoy working in the writing center. I get to meet a variety of students, help them improve their writing skills, and hopefully relieve some of their worries!

Kim Ykema

Major: Graduate Student in MSW Program

Interests: organic gardening, health and wellness, cooking, meditation, social justice, and learning about anything

Tutoring in the writing center gives me the opportunity to cheer for students who are intimidated by their writing assignments. I love to show them tools they can use over and over again, not only in school but in all of life.

Amy Fotta

Hello! My name is Amy Fotta; I'm the professional writing consultant in the writing center. When not reading student papers, I can be found enjoying time with my daughters (Tela and Eliza), cooking, reading (Anna Karenina is my favorite; I've read it four times... and counting!), or traveling. Glacier National Park, one of my favorite places, was a stop on a three-month adventure that took me to every state in the continental US.
