Crataegus phaenopyrum

Native to eastern United States. Medium-sized deciduous tree grows to 30' x 30'. White flowers in early June. Small orange-red fruit persist into winter. Attracts birds. Branches are covered in thorns. Prefers moist soil in full sun.
