Brian Szymanik

Mr. Szymanik is a graduate of the School of Design at the University of Pennsylania and the Tyler School of Art at Temple University.  Mr. Szymanik directs an architecture and design firm based in Philadelphia that concerns itself equally with theory, practice, civic engagement, and the art of building.  Brian has successfully designed projects at both small and large scales, from mid-rise apartment buldings to higher education athletic facilities to small urban residential renovations and additions.  In all of his work, Brian seeks to exploit his broad experience and his innovative spirit to offer exceptional solutions to meet his clients needs while exceeding their expectations.

Brian's work has been published in The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Philadelphia Architect, The Philadelphia City Paper, The Philadelphia Business Journal, CONTEXT:  The Journal AIA Philadelphia, The Philadelphia Tribune, Grid Magazine, and on 

Brian currently serves as Visiting Assistant Professor of Practice in the Marywood University School of Architecture.  He has also worked as an adjunct professor at Temple University's Tyler School of Art and at  Philadelphia University's College of Architecture and the Built Environment.  Brian's practice and research have focused on issues of social justice, homelessness, sustainable design, multi-family housing, and the rituals surrounding death in contemporary society.  He has served as an invited design critic at Temple University, Drexel University and Philadelphia University.
