11 AM - 1:30 PM, Fireplace Lounge
The focus of this program is to dispel any stigma faced by college students with mental health issues. The program is both entertaining and inspiring as it involves many Marywood students and departments as well as an opportunity to make a pledge to help break down misperceptions about mental illness on Marywood's campus. Literature will be available about mental health and we will also have an array of informational tables on self-care and stress management.
There will be extra credit slips available at the Counseling/Student Development table for anyone interested in offering extra credit to attendees. Also, if you are interested in having a sign-in sheet for your class please contact Laura Chickson at 570-348-6245.
This event will encourage individuals to recognize the need for help in themselves and their friends, and educate them about the many resources available on and off campus.
The event includes representatives from various organizations on campus and in the local community, including student representatives from the Student Dietetics Association, Music Therapy, Chi Sigma Iota, POW!, Autism Speaks Club, Athletics & Recreation, Caritas Social Work Club, Student Support Services, Student Art Therapy, Psi Chi, Psych Club, Psychological Services Center, Vet Center, PASS Program, Chartwells, Advocacy Alliance, Marworth, NAMI, , and the list goes on. There will also be food, prizes and interactive activities to promote self-care and reduce stress.
