Track and Field Coach
Scott Hutchinson was named Marywood University's first Head Coach for Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field. Hutchinson brings 26 years of head coaching experience to Marywood, as it prepares for its inaugural season for Outdoor Track and Field in 2014-2015. Hutchinson will also assume the role of Head Coach for Men's and Women's Cross Country in January 2014. Previously, Hutchinson served as the Head Coach for Men's Cross Country and Men's Outdoor Track and Field at the University of Southern Maine, where he served for the past eight seasons.
Prior to Southern Maine, he coached two seasons as Head Coach for Women's Cross Country and Track at Salve Regina University in Newport, RI. He has experience building a program from the ground up, spending 15 seasons as the Head Coach for Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track and Field at Babson College in Wellesley, MA.
The coaching veteran has led 12 conference championship teams—four in cross country, four in outdoor track and field, and four in indoor track and field. Hutchinson has been named Coach of the Year twelve times during his career, winning the award in both cross country and track and field.
He looks forward to building the track and field program. Hutchinson admittedly has a strong work ethic and looks for that same quality in the athletes he coaches, saying he is "most impressed by the commitment Marywood has made to the athletic facilities." Hutchinson added, "A 25 million dollar commitment to the athletic facilities speaks for itself and to the vision that Marywood has for its students and athletes."
"I look forward to the challenges ahead in building this program into one of the top teams in the Mid-East Region and, eventually, having athletes qualify for the National Championships," he said.
