A Lifetime of Leadership

Sheila Sanderson Breitweiser, Ed.D. ’63 recently retired from Spartanburg Regional Health System, where she served since 2008 as the health system’s vice-president and executive director of its foundation.  

In 2007, Dr. Breitweiser retired as president of the S.C. School for the Deaf and the Blind, which was the culmination of her 40-year career in education in North Carolina and South Carolina. Under her extraordinary leadership, the school became a premier facility, providing quality education and services for individuals with sensory disabilities.

For her work in the education programs of both states, Dr. Breitweiser received the highest awards each state gives to its citizens in recognition of exemplary service: North Carolina’s Order of the Longleaf Pine and South Carolina’s Order of the Palmetto.
In addition, Dr. Breitweiser received the 2008 Marywood Alumni Association Award for Excellence in Health and Human Services.  


Mary Ann Rossi ’73 Named to 2013 Pennsylvania Super Lawyers List

Mary Ann Rossi ’73 has been named to the 2013 Pennsylvania Super Lawyers list in the area of Land Use/Zoning. She is a partner in the firm MacElree Harvey, Ltd.

Her practice includes zoning and land use, real estate and commercial litigation. She has appeared in Federal Court and in the Courts of Common Pleas of Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties. Her experience in administrative matters includes the United States Army Corps of Engineers, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, and the Environmental Hearing Board. In her land use practice, Atty. Rossi has represented builder-developer and landowner clients in Chester, Montgomery, Berks and other suburban counties to secure approvals for a wide variety of development projects. She has also advised developers and prepared documentation for utility construction agreements, condominium, and uniform planned communities, and has advised buyers and sellers in real estate transactions. Atty. Rossi is a member of the Chester County Bar Association and Past President of Legal Aid of Chester County.  A graduate of Marywood (1973), Atty. Rossi received her law degree from Dickinson School of Law (J.D. 1979).
