Marywood University Holds Annual Electronics Recycling Event- April 17

Marywood University will hold an Electronics Recycling event on April, 17 from 9a.m.-2p.m. in the “Pit” parking lot. (Directional signs will be posted throughout campus.) Individuals, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to bring their old electronic items to campus to be properly recycled by Waste Management. Last year, members of the community brought in over 7.2 tons of electronics for recycling. This year, the recycling event committee hopes to double that amount and collect 15 tons of recyclable electronics. Almost all electronic equipment that plug- in or has embedded batteries will be accepted. Examples of the most commonly collected items are as follows: computer monitors, keyboards, CPUs, printers, cell phones, televisions, VCRs, stereo equipment, fax machines, and corded and cordless phones.

Speaker Gary Dreese Addresses his Experience in Federal Prison- April 14

Marywood University’s Criminal Justice Club will host a presentation from Garry Dreese on turning life’s struggles into opportunities on Wednesday, April 14 at 7 p.m. in Media Room 160, Learning Resource Center. Mr. Dreese was indicted on federal drug charges and will speak about his experience and the obstacles he faced in jail and on parole, as well as the transition back into society.

Marywood Senior Nursing Students Win "Student Nurse Challenge"

Marywood University's senior nursing students won The Geoffrey Allen Walp Memorial 7th Annual Student Nurse Challenge at East Stroudsburg University. Students are asked questions on nursing and the top school wins. The winner receives a silver nursing award and a $500.00 prize.

Marywood's Hearing Clinic Offers Free Screenings

Marywood University's Speech-Language- Hearing Clinic will offer free hearing screenings on April 12, 14, and 16 in the William G. McGowan Center for Graduate and Professional Studies. The screenings are open to the public. Appointments are necessary and can be made by calling (570) 348-6299.

“Release the Light” Program Set to Increase Awareness on Sexual Assault-April 14

Marywood University joins in the national effort in providing Release the Light Sexual Assault Awareness Program on Wednesday, April 14 in the Fireplace Lounge Nazareth Student Center from 12 - 2:00 p.m. The purpose is to increase student and community awareness for the need of violence prevention and reducing incidents of sexual assault on college campuses and in the community.
