On Wednesday, February 6, Marywood's Autism Speaks U club will host a women's and men's basketball night to benefit autism awareness. The women's game begins at 6 p.m., and the men's game begins at 8 p.m.
Activities will benefit the Autism Speaks U club. A raffle and a 50/50 will be held at the games.
Club vice president Leanne Feeney, an early childhood education major, says she and several classmates established the club last year with the aim of raising awareness about autism. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), autism, a communication spectrum disorder, affects 1 in 88 children.
"I hope people will come to enjoy the game and support autism awareness efforts," she said.
Since April is Autism Awareness Month, the Autism Speaks U club is planning more events this spring.
