Perform layout, fabrication and repair of equipment and structures. Troubleshoot and repair complex equipment and distribution systems. Analyze simple drawings, follow specifications, oral instructions and general requirements across the following trades: Carpentry, Electrical, Mechanical and Plumbing while under supervision. These duties will be accomplished while working on ladders, scaffolds, and confined spaces and may hold the chance of being exposed to noise, smoke, fumes and heat. The Utility Mechanic apprentice should be able to manually lift 50 lb. objects intermittently. Heavier objects are handled using alternative methods
High School or Trade School graduate with the ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions and navigate computer programs including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, and Datastream.
Work Experience Requirements:
Mechanical: Install, diagnose and repair complex and simple equipment, use typical mechanics tools, work from drawings and verbal instructions or sketches, monitors boilers and makes adjustments and conducts water treatment tests. Plumbing: Make necessary repairs on distribution equipment, use of plumbing tools and be able to solder and have working knowledge of hot work permit system. Electrical: Plans, lays out, installs wiring circuits and distribution systems to applicable codes. Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures. Painter: Selects proper tools and equipment, prepare paint including machine and hand mixing. Set up work sites, estimate paint, and prepare surfaces including cleaning, patching and minor repairs. Performs spackling, caulking, sanding and taping applications. Carpentry: Keep work areas and equipment clean. Work with minimal supervision. May be called in on emergencies during the day or night. May be asked to work overtime.
A completed Marywood application is required.
