Criminology/Criminal Justice Tenure Track

Summary of Duties

The Marywood University Department of Social Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin August 2017.

A Ph.D. in criminology, criminal justice, sociology or related field is required.  Candidates who are ABD will be considered, with the expectation that the degree will be completed by August 2017.  

Qualified candidates will possess specializations in one or more of the following areas: criminal justice administration (policing, courts, or corrections); criminal law; crime mapping; social network analysis; criminal investigation; forensics.  Experience with criminal justice agencies is desirable.

The successful candidate will have evidence of effective teaching in the classroom and with online/hybrid formats.  The ability to transition both traditional and online courses into an effective online program is also highly desirable. 

Responsibilities include: teaching courses in the candidate’s areas of specialization and in the department’s curriculum at the undergraduate and graduate levels; research and scholarly publication; and service to the university community.  

Criminal Justice is located in the Social Sciences Department, which offers several undergraduate programs and a master’s program in Criminal Justice. Full-time teaching load is 21 credits per academic year.

  • Educational:
