For Christina Brundage, the transition to working directly with students and alumni in her role of Career Engagement Specialist for the Career Development Center was easily done.
Ms. Brundage began her career at Marywood University working with students, staff, and faculty in the role of technology trainer. It was during that time that she found a passion for working with students and helping them achieve their goals.
She said, “Working with students is where I knew I wanted to be.” Through her studies in the master’s program at Marywood, she found, “The Higher Education program illustrates the amazing students we have at this University, and by studying alongside and working with those students, I was able to find a natural fit with my passion,” she continued.
The Career Development Center is currently working on rebranding the department and its mission. Formerly known as the Career Services Office, it is clear that the department provides far more than just career services and needs a name and mission to reflect its broad scope of offerings.
“Working with undergraduate and graduate students from the time they enter the University through to graduation will make the transition into professional life much smoother and less stressful,” Ms. Brundage said.
Ms. Brundage graduated in 2015 from Marywood’s Higher Education Administration Program, and she is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Human Development at the University.
The newly renovated Career Development Center is located on the third floor of the Learning Commons. Currently, the Career Development Center is using several new initiatives and programs to increase student awareness, such as meeting with various student clubs and organizations; live webinars; software to enhance student, alumni, and employer engagement; and alumni spotlights.
Ms. Brundage resides in Mount Cobb with her husband, Phillip, and their two children, Hailey and Liam.
