Marywood University will host world class trumpeter Christopher Martin for a master class and performance on Sunday, March 3, 2019. The master musician class will be held at Noon and is open to all who are interested. Both the master class and the performance will take place in the Sette LaVerghetta Center for Performing Arts. The performance is free and open to the public.
Christopher Martin is the principal trumpet with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. His visit on Sunday, March 3, 2019, marks his first visit to Scranton. Mr. Martin joined the New York Philharmonic as Principal Trumpet, The Paula Levin Chair, in September 2016. He served as principal trumpet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) for 11 seasons and has enjoyed a distinctive career of nearly 20 years in many of America’s finest orchestras. Dedicated to music education, Mr. Martin has served on the faculty of Northwestern University and coached the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. He co-founded the National Brass Symposium with his brother, Michael Martin, and received the Edwin Franko Goldman Memorial Citation from the American Bandmasters Association for outstanding contributions to the wind band genre.
