101st Opening Liturgy

The entire Marywood community is invited and encouraged to participate in the Opening Liturgy of the 2015-2016 academic year on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sette LaVerghetta Theatre.  A Marywood University tradition that goes back to 1915, this year marks the 101st time we will gather to ask God's blessing on our academic year.  New members of the Marywood community will be welcomed and blessed during the liturgy.   So that all may participate, offices will be closed from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Please plan to attend this celebratory Liturgy.

Singers Needed for Opening Liturgy

If you like to sing, please consider joining the Music Ministry for our Opening Liturgy on Wednesday, September 2, 11 a.m., in the Sette LaVerghetta Performing Arts Theatre.  Faculty, staff, and students are welcome.  No auditions required, just a desire to help make this a special celebration! 

Rehearsals will be held at the following times:

Sunday, August 30,   6:00 - 7:00 p.m. - Marian Chapel

Tuesday, September 1,  8:30 - 9:30 p.m. (or later if needed) in Sette-LaVerghetta Performing Arts Theatre

Please try to attend at least one of the rehearsals.  Call time for anyone who is available will be 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2.  If you have a 10 a.m. class, just come when you are able!  So that we can prepare folders and chairs, please contact Mike Sowa at  Thank you for sharing your time and talent for this special day.

Sunday Mass Schedule

On Sunday, August 30 the regular Sunday Mass schedule will be in effect:  10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Marian Chapel, Swartz Center for Spiritual Life.  All are welcome!

Big Friends/Little Friends

Do you enjoy working with children?  Need service learning hours?  Join us at Big Friends/Little Friends which is a mentorship program for children - homework help, a hot meal, crafts & games!  Volunteer Mondays and/or Thursdays from 2:30 - 4:50 p.m.  Transportation is provided!  Contact us at if interested or with any questions!

Catholic Relief Services Ambassador Program

Are you interested in working to build a constituency for the global poor through Fair Trade, Food Security, Global Health and Emergency Aid?  If you are, consider becoming a CRS Ambassador for next year.  Fill out the CRS Ambassador Application and return it to Sr. John Michele Southwick at  Campus Ministry.  Email Sister John Michele, with any questions. Help feed the hungry, help those in crisis and help with developmental aid around the world.
