Career Services: Resume Samples

Below you will find a variety of resume styles and we have included a selection of majors, please note that these styles are not particular to these majors.

Focuses on specific coursework that is pertinent to career field.  This is helpful when the student/alumni lacks hands-on experience in the field.

Typical student resume.  Can include high school information.  Lists part-time work and volunteer experiences in lieu of professional experience.

Focus on teaching experience, including student teaching and tutoring. Shows some past part-time work that is related to young people.

Generally to be used by Alumni whose professional experience outweighs their educational experience.  Profile should be extremely related to position applying for.

This example is for a rather “seasoned” professional in the sales field.  Bolding the title of awards draws attention to individual achievements.

Clinical example.  Potential employer is interested in which clinical the candidate has experienced.  Very focused on related experience vs. part-time jobs.

Another clinical experience resume.  Focuses on areas of clinical experience vs. places.  Highlights what the candidate was able to experience as a part of the clinical.

Very non-traditional.  Useful when there are outstanding awards or the candidate would like to focus on non-resume items (character references, interpersonal relations, non-related involvement, etc).

Traditional document with opportunity to highlight some related skills and abilities.  Highlights related transferrable skills that will be of interest to potential employer, leaving out details of that are not related.

Focus is turned to transferrable skills.  Useful when individual is looking to make a move in a new direction.  Puts emphasis on what the individual is capable of, rather than what positions were held.
