Summary of Duties
The School of Social Work at Marywood seeks a full-time faculty member to become the coordinator of the off-site MSW Program located at DeSales University. This position is to begin in January or August 2020. Rank is at the level of assistant professor of practice.
Primary responsibilities are the overall coordination for the day-to-day functioning of the total operation of Marywood MSW Program, Lehigh Valley, inclusive of but not limited to working with students, faculty, staff, and members of the DeSales community. The ability to establish and maintain effective relationships both within the university and with outside stakeholders. Recruit and mentor adjunct faculty, oversee the registration process. Recruit potential applicants to the Lehigh Valley MSW program by providing outreach and speaking at colleges, universities, and agencies, organizing open house programs, maintain visibility in the region and beyond by providing workshops and keeping in contact with Alumni. The Coordinator oversees all student advisement at this location. The Coordinator is also responsible for organizing and overseeing orientation sessions to the Lehigh Valley campus and ensure that they are connected to the main campus.
A current Marywood University employee with a terminal degree in social work and University teaching experience.
Work Experience Requirements:
Preference will be given to those with experience in social work practice, demonstrated success with recruitment and program administration, as well as familiarity with the Lehigh Valley demographics and the agencies that serve the region. Successful candidates will provide the potential for effective teaching, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and leadership in the discipline.
The School of Social Work offers undergraduate, and master’s programs in Social Work. The programs are accredited by CSWE (Council on Social Work Education.) The School of Social Work currently has programs on the main campus in Scranton, as well as off-site MSW programs in the Lehigh Valley, East Stroudsburg, and Central PA. The School of Social Work is currently celebrating its 50th year of providing MSW education to the Northeast Pennsylvania region.
