Summary of Duties
The Philosophy and Religious Studies Department at Marywood University is initiating a search for a department administrative assistant.
The administrative assistant’s regular duties include interfacing with students, making phone calls, keeping departmental minutes, ordering supplies, booking rooms, running reports on various data servers, handling part-time faculty contracts, collecting student papers and applications for awards, managing forms, maintaining files of course syllabi, preparing and distributing course evaluations, assisting in preparing and monitoring the budget, etc. The secretary also assists with event planning and logistics. Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, especially Word and Excel; Google Drive; and other relevant software programs is required. Web design and web management experience and experience with a business enterprise system such as Ellucian Colleague are greatly preferred.
High school diploma and experience as a secretary or position with similar responsibilities, excellent oral communication skills and strong interpersonal and organizational abilities required. Experience working in higher education preferred.
Strong communication skills in working with faculty, staff, and students. Must be able to deal with frequent interruptions. Must also have good typing and phone skills. Familiarity with or willingness to learn Marywood's network software. Willingness to develop additional skills as needed. Eagerness to learn is key.
