Summary of Duties
The Marywood University Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Religious Studies to begin August 2021.
Marywood University is a comprehensive Catholic institution sponsored by the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary located in northeastern Pennsylvania. Additional information about the University is available at www.marywood.edu.
Required: Doctorate (ABD considered) in Religious Studies or Theology, with a specialization in Christian Theology. Ph.D. must be completed by August 2021. Candidates must be able to articulate how they will carry out Marywood's Mission and Core Values through their teaching and service.
Preferred: Background and ability to teach Bible and/or Comparative Religion/Theology. Prior college teaching experience. Online teaching experience.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in Christian Theology and the department’s required introductory course in Religious Studies, student advisement, commitment to scholarly research, and participation in department and university service. Candidates who can teach Bible or Comparative Religion/Theology are preferred. Full-time teaching load is 4/3.
Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, teaching statement, evidence of teaching effectiveness, unofficial transcripts, and letters from three references. At least one of the references should be able to speak about the applicant's teaching ability.
