Assistant Professor of Social Psychology (#201)

Summary of Duties

The Department of Psychology & Counseling at Marywood University is seeking a Full-time (9 month), tenure-track faculty member with specialization in Social Psychology to begin in August, 2019.

The position entails a 21 credit academic year teaching load that includes undergraduate and graduate level courses in Social Psychology as well as other courses within the individual’s area of expertise and as needed in the department such as undergraduate Experimental Psychology I & II, Psychological Application of Statistics, General Psychology and Senior Seminar.  The position also requires establishing a productive program of research with the opportunity for undergraduate student engagement.   Investment in providing high quality undergraduate teaching and mentorship is expected.  Mentoring undergraduate and graduate student research will also be a part of the position. Involvement in service activities at the department, university, and community level are also expected.

  • Educational:

    Required Qualifications:

    • PhD in Social Psychology (ABD will be considered with PhD completion by end of first year)


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Teaching experience or ability to teach at the college level, preferably stats and research courses
    • Established record of research productivity or ability to establish a robust research agenda and productivity
    • Investment in mentoring undergraduate students; involving UG students in research activities
    • Competent to mentor undergraduate and graduate student research
    • Strong interpersonal & organizational skills
