10 Students Inducted into Phi Sigma Iota!

On April 29, 2016, ten foreign language majors and minors were inducted into Phi Sigma Iota, the honor society of foreign languages. Guest speaker and alumnus, Edgar Sedano, gave a heartfelt speech emphasizing the foreign language study to the new inductees, family, and guests.

Katlyn Beaton wins Fulbright ETA to Andorra!

Katlyn Beaton, instructor of Spanish and now the department's third Fulbrighter, has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) for the 2016-2017 academic year in Les Esclades, Andorra. She will be teaching English to high school students in a Spanish institute. While there, she plans to learn French and Catalan in preparation for further graduate studies. Katlyn graduated in 2014 with a B.A. in Spanish and in 2015 with a M.A.T. in Education.

Fulbright ETA Riki Schwalb to begin her 3rd year in South Korea!

Riki Schwalb, class of 2014, is currently teaching in her second year in Jeollabuk-do, South Korea. She just started teaching her fourth semester at an all-boys public high school. Riki hopes to extend her Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to a third year.

New Italian/Spanish Professor Joins Foreign Langauge Family!

We would like to welcome Paola Marrero, M.A. from Puerto Rico to the Foreign Language Department. Paola teaches entry level Italian, Medical Spanish, and Advanced-Beginner Spanish.
