EVER-CHANGING LIGHT: Recent Landscape Paintings by COLLIER B. PARKER
Mar 22, 2014 - May 03, 2014
Landscapes, painted on site locally along the Lackawanna River in Scranton and abroad in Tuscany, Italy, reveal a strong sense of place. During the painting process each landscape unveils its mystery and beauty to the artist as he explores the motif. While attempting to understand and capture the ever–changing effects of light, color, and atmosphere, the landscape and the paintings evolve into something very different than what the artist first perceived.
Collier B. Parker is the Dean of the Insalaco College of Creative and Performing Arts, Marywood University. Prior to Marywood he served as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Delta State University, Cleveland, MS, where he also served as chair and professor of art. He received his BFA from Delta State University and MFA from Dominican University in Florence, Italy. He also completed private studies in painting and drawing with James Hanes at LaSalle University and figurative sculpture and anatomy at Frudakis Academy of The Fine Arts, Philadelphia, PA.
