Welcome to the website of the Office of the Secretary of the University and General Counsel. This Office is primarily used to provide general legal counsel and guidance to the University's President, Cabinet and Board of Trustees. The Office reviews and maintains policy, governance and related official documents and records for the University, and counsels on the University's legal affairs. The Office of the Secretary of the University and General Counsel consults with outside legal counsel on issues and obligations that may include: planned giving, real estate transactions, human resources, taxation, research compliance, contracts, student-related issues, international agreements, government regulations, and general liability issues.
In addition, this Office provides information to University constituents regarding University policies, procedures, and committees, and maintains policy updates to the University Policies and Procedures Manual, the Faculty Handbook, and the Personnel Handbook.
