Month of Thanks
We invited members of the Marywood community to share their memories, wisdom, and messages of thanks; these are their responses.
Dr. Margaret Yarina altered the course of my college life. I entered Marywood College in 1961 intending to become a math teacher. Two concurrent events changed that: first, I didn't feel prepared for the college math curriculum; second, and more important, I took an English class with Miss (at the time) Yarina. I was enthralled by her lessons and, without much deliberation, changed my major study to English. I have had 25+ years of success as a high school English teacher and owe much of it to my initiation into the field by Miss Yarina. I was most inspired by her and am grateful to her for her strong influence she had on me at that time.
