Presidential Medalists Awarded

Each year Marywood University selects three individuals to receive the Presidential Medal, an award that recognizes service to others—one focused internationally, one focused nationally, and one centered within the local community. The medals were awarded at the 2015 Society Dinner on October 20. This year’s recipients included:

Mr. Ken Hackett

Recently retired President of Catholic Relief Services, who received the international-level Presidential Medal, in honor of his esteemed leadership as CRS’s sixth president.

Bernadette Gray-Little ’66, Ph.D.

Chancellor of the University of Kansas and a Marywood alumna, who received the national-level Presidential Medal, in honor of her distinguished career as a highly regarded scholar, teacher, and university leader.

Most Reverend James C. Timlin, D.D.

Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Scranton, who received the community-level Presidential Medal, in honor of his decades of devoted service to the people of the Diocese of Scranton.
