Branching Out: Marywood Welcomes the Class of 2017

The Class of 2017 set foot on campus for the first time as Marywood students during Orientation Weekend, July 12 & 13. Marywood University takes pride in the attention given to assuring success in the transitions students and families face in adjusting to college life. This year, students were encouraged to “Branch Out,” and make the most of their Marywood experience.

During her welcome address, Sister Anne Munley, IHM, President, told the students, “In nature, the tiniest plant is as important as the tallest tree, because each has its own purpose, its own reason for being. Each one contributes to the overall health and well-being of the entire environment…So, open your eyes, minds, and hearts to the new opportunities before you—branch out and grow. Don’t feel that you have to wait to make a difference—start right away!”

One of the newer traditions of Orientation—walking through the Memorial Arch—was celebrated by students of the incoming class, symbolizing new beginnings, along with the enduring Marywood spirit, mission, and values.
