Students, Staff Win ADDY Awards

Marywood art students took home gold and silver awards at this year's Northeast Pennsylvania ADDY Awards, held on March 8. This is the eighth consecutive year in which Marywood students have won ADDY Awards.
The ceremony, held at the Hilton Scranton, recognized 2012 creative efforts in print, web, video, radio and outdoor advertising and design, primarily featuring the work of professionals in the ad agency business throughout the region. Marywood students first won ADDYs in 2005, when Marywood graphic design professors John Meza and Christine Medley began encouraging their students to enter the competition. Eight years later, the awards keep rolling in.
Cynthia Jones, who graduated in December 2012, won a gold ADDY for her self-promotion CD. Collin Bigart, a senior graphic design student, won silver for his eco-friendly package design and product, "TEO." Erin Risboskin, a senior graphic design student, won silver for her eye chart call for entries poster. Finally, in a repeat of the 2011 and 2012 ADDY awards, University staff was recognized. Jessica Meoni, a member of Marywood's Marketing and Communications Department, won three silver awards for her design of university-related promotional materials.
Nationwide, the American Advertising Federation's ADDY Awards attract more than 50,000 entries for local competitions every year. The regional ADDY competition is the first of a three-tier, national competition. At the second tier, local winners compete against other winners in 15 district competitions. District winners then move on to the third tier, which is the national ADDY Awards competition.
