The MPA at Marywood University follows the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA)'s guidelines. It bridges between theory and practice while developing research and analytical skills in order for students to become effective administrators.
Class size is small in order to promote discussion and feedback. Students engage in problem-solving, case studies, team work, assimilations, performance evaluation, strategic planning, and model-development in order to gain the necessary skills for leadership and administrative tasks. All classrooms have state of the art equipment in order to allow for professional presentations, online study, and shared learning with other institutions.
We offer in-class sessions in addition to Moodle (online), hybrid, and satellite courses. All of our in-class sessions are held weekdays at 6:00 PM in order to accomodate the professional lives of our students.
Our student body consists of mid-level practitioners in public and nonprofit agencies, in addition to full-time students of both genders and all ages, nationalities and experiences.
We encourage our students to engage in local, regional, national, and international conferences and seminars and take active roles in professional organizations.
Our faculty are experienced and professional scholars recognized locally, nationally, and internationally for their publications, conference presentations, and leadership roles in various professional organizations.
Our curriculum presents the cutting edge in public policy and administrative studies while emphasizing interconnectedness, globalization, sound governance, and care for the environment. Hence our motto: "green and global."
