Marywood University's School of Social Work is the leading provider of social work education in Northeast Pennsylvania, having educated more than 4,500 social workers since 1969. Marywood's social work programs (bachelor's and master's degrees) are fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). The baccalaureate program has been accredited since 1974 and the master's program has been accredited since 1969.

Mission of the School of Social Work

Informed by a Catholic tradition, as well as the University’s and  profession’s intersecting values, the Marywood University School of Social Work prepares a wide variety of beginning, career-changing and mid-career students at the generalist (BSW) and advanced (MSW) level to engage in competent, culturally responsive, and evidence-informed micro, mezzo, and macro level social work practice with diverse client systems. BSW and MSW graduates respond to the evolving needs of oppressed and marginalized populations in local, regional, national, and global communities, guided by a commitment to social and economic justice.

Highlights

Master of Social Work (MSW)

Our MSW program is offered at four different locations on a full- or part-time basis. The part-time program is designed for students with full-time employment.

Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)

Our Bachelor of Social Work program combines a liberal arts curriculum with courses in social-behavioral science and professional social work.

U.S. Professor of the Year Recognition

Kielty Turner, DSW, assistant professor in the School of Social Work at Marywood University, is presented a certificate of recognition from the U.S. Professors of the Year by Mark Rodgers, DSW, LCSW, BCD, dean of the College of Health and Human Services at Marywood University.
