The Center for Architectural Studies, which is LEED Gold Certified, is a testament to Marywood's commitment to sustainability. The building features a variety of "green" components, including a vegetative roof and an innovative heating and cooling system that utilizes geothermal energy from abandoned mine shafts beneath campus.

One of the most recognizable landmarks on campus, the Memorial Arch stands at the main entrance to Marywood University. Built in 1902, it once marked the entrance to the Motherhouse, which was the location of St. Mary's Seminary. Marywood is sponsored by the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

In 1975 the Memorial Commons was blessed and dedicated on the land where the Motherhouse (destroyed by fire February 22, 1971) had once dominated the campus. The Commons is a ninety-foot concrete circle with walkways extending outward to major campus areas.
The large free-form granite monument taken in part from a shrine at St. Cecilia s Academy, the first I.H.M. Motherhouse in Scranton, which was also destroyed by fire in 1876. In this way, something from the far past is integrated into a new and very different focal point at the heart of the College campus. The monument bears the inscription: The Memorial marks the site of the first building erected at Marywood. It served both the general public and the Congregation of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

The Sette LaVerghetta Center for Performing Arts is home to our communication arts and music, theatre, and dance departments. Its main attraction is an 1100 seat theatre. Throughout the academic year, you can catch a performance here and in the more intimate Black Box Theatre. The Marywood's orchestra, wind ensemble, and chamber singers often perform here. From its polished marble floors to its spectacular domed ceiling, the Rotunda is an iconic campus landmark. The Rotunda is part of the Liberal Arts Center. Its historic murals by Roman artist Gonippo Raggi illustrate the history and principles of Christian education. The Hall of Presidents, which displays portraits of Marywood's presidents, serves as the main entrance to the Rotunda and Liberal Arts Center.
