Mail Services Assistant

Hours:

40 hours/week; 52 weeks/year

Summary of Duties

The Mailroom Services Assistant is responsible for processing and dispatching daily mail; sorting and scanning USPS, FedEx, and UPS packages for departments and students; calculating postage for department mail; creating daily and monthly reports for bulk, business reply mail (BRM), and meter mail; processing PDQ shipments daily; servicing students when sending or receiving packages; and backing up the Postmaster as needed.



Requirements

Educational

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Special Qualifications

  • Must have the ability to read and write and to comprehend written and oral instructions
  • Must have a valid PA driver's license 

Essential Elements

  • Receive and process all out-going mail in compliance with the rules and regulations stated in both the domestic and international mail manuals
  • Sort and prepare all incoming mail for distribution and re-address mail as required
  • Prepare machines and drawers for daily transactions
  • Process mail for all departments
  • Prepare required daily reports and monitor stamp supply
  • Responsible for all monetary transactions and required reports

Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
