Aquatics Director/Head Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Coach
Hours:
40 hours per week; 52 weeks per year
Must be willing to work flexible/extra hours including nights and weekends, to accommodate practice, events, and competition schedules
Requires extensive travel of several weeks per year for training trips, competition, and recruiting
Summary of Duties
The Aquatics Director/Head Men's & Women's Swimming and Diving Coach is responsible for coaching the men's and women's swimming and diving teams and is appointed by the President on the recommendation of the Vice-President of Enrollment Management and Student Services. This position is responsible for the daily programs of the natatorium, including scheduling, safety management, aquatics programming and training and lifeguard supervision, etc. In collaboration with the Executive Director of Athletics and Recreation and the Athletics Facility Manager, this position also coordinates aquatics policy development, marketing, and staffing. Coaching duties include recruitment, scheduling, conditioning, sports camp development, and traditional related tasks.
Requirements
Educational
Bachelor's degree required; master's preferred
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations preferred
Work Experience Requirements
Minimum of three (3) years' coaching experience, preferably at the high school or collegiate level
Prior experience in pool maintenance and scheduling preferred
Fundraising experience and management experience in field of aquatics and knowledge of social media preferred
Special Qualifications
- Experience using Hy-tek Team and Meet Manager and Colorado Timing Systems
- Good budgeting, organizational, and scheduling skills
- Ability to teach, coach, and mentor
- Skilled in recruitment, admissions and sales
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Essential Elements
- Develop competitive and successful team programs that include training and conditioning activities
- Recruit swimming and diving team members based on team and University enrollment goals
- In order to insure current position, specific and defined target numbers established by the Assistant Director of Athletics/Recruitment Coordinator in conjunction with the Executive Director of Athletics and Recreation must be met on an annual basis
- Promote academic excellence, athletic success, sportsmanship, and life values to team members
- Fulfill administrative duties including completion of NCAA forms, distribution and maintenance of uniforms and equipment, development of budget proposals and other coaching related responsibilities
- Knowledge and implementation of relevant NCAA and Atlantic East policies/regulations
- Hire, train, and supervise team and pool staff including assistant coaches and lifeguards
- Secure American Red Cross Certifications in Adult CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, Lifeguard Training, Water Safety Instructor, and AED Certification
- Establish and manage the daily operation, policies, and maintenance of the Aquatics Center
- Enforce, revise, and publicize policies and procedures for pool safety, staffing, programming, and maintenance of equipment
- Develop intramural and recreational aquatics programs for the University community
- Market and manage rental activities in conjunction with the Athletics Facilities Manager and coordinate staffing and equipment use with recreation programs, rental groups, summer camps, and other events
- Coordinate instructional aquatics classes and programs and oversee water safety instructors
- Represent the Athletics and Recreation Department in a professional manner and serve on University committees as appointed
Other Elements
Red Cross certifications in lifeguard, CPR, AED, and First Aid required
Valid driver's license required

Physical Demands
Must be able to lift moderate loads of up to 15-20 pounds
Must be able to stand for long periods of time while conducting training/competition sessions
Must be able to drive a car/van
