Laboratory Manager


40 hours/week; 52 weeks/year

Full-time exempt position

Summary of Duties

The Marywood University Department of Science, Mathematics, and Computer Science seeks a full-time Laboratory Manager.  The successful candidate will support and facilitate instruction and research in the sciences by providing a broad array of services to students and faculty in the department. 

The Department of Science, Mathematics and Computer Science offers B.S. degrees in Biology Pre-Professional, Biotechnology, Environmental Science, Pre-Physician Assistant, Mathematics, Computer Science and Medical Laboratory Sciences. It also offers a non-thesis M.S. in Biotechnology.

Bachelor's of Science degree in any scientific field is required.

Master's of Science degree in any scientific field is preferred.

Work Experience Requirements

Experience in laboratory coordination and management in an undergraduate teaching environment, management of budgets and inventory systems, coordination of department safety training, and supervision of laboratory assistants are required. 

Experience in business administration, laboratory management, chemical and biological waste management, and service on an Employee Safety Committee and regulatory compliance are preferred.

  • Laboratory assistant training and supervision
  • Regulatory compliance
  • Scientific materials management (including purchase orders and inventory)
  • Department budget management for teaching and research lab supplies as well as repair and maintenance contracts
