Head Men's Lacrosse Coach/Fitness Center and Conditioning Supervisor


40 hours per week/52 weeks per year


Summary of Duties

The Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach/Fitness Center and Conditioning Supervisor is responsible for coaching the men’s lacrosse team and responsible for the daily function of the Insalaco Center’s Fitness Center in terms of staffing, hours of operation, policy enforcement and signage.

  • Men’s Lacrosse involves a variety of coaching tasks including recruiting, conditioning, and sport camp development
  • Strength and Conditioning Supervisor coordinates, in conjunction with the Director of Athletics and Recreation, all policy, hiring and training of staff, climbing wall usage, safety and training of designated staff and participants.  The Supervisor also has responsibility in conjunction with coaches to design and implement strength and conditioning programs for all 22 sports
  • This position will also act as a liaison, assisting in game management and other administrative duties as assigned.  The Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach/Fitness Center and Conditioning Supervisor is appointed by the President on the recommendation of the Vice-President for Student Life and the Director of Athletics and Recreation

Bachelor’s Degree is required

Work Experience Requirements

  • Head Coaching experience in the sport of Men’s Lacrosse is preferred
  • Experience as a strength and conditioning coach is preferred
  • Experience supervising a Fitness Center is preferred
  • Minimum of two years experience working within an Athletic Department at an NCAA Division III Institution
  • Strong leadership skills and experience leading staff as a direct supervisor
  • Strong organizational, communication, writing and interpersonal skills

Essential Elements

  • Perform all coaching duties in the role as head coach to include on field instruction, game management, recruiting, conditioning, academic monitoring, assistant coach supervision and sport camp development
  • Be knowledgeable and supportive of compliance with policies and regulations of the University, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Atlantic East Conference, and other athletics related organizations to which the University belongs
  • Know and implement relevant NCAA and Atlantic East Conference policies/regulations
  • Be knowledgeable about the annual NCAA Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA)
  • Supervise and manage the Fitness Center within the Insalaco Center for Athletics, Recreation and Wellness
  • Supervise and schedule all staff designated to work within the Fitness Center
  • Insure appropriate certifications as needed
  • Train staff in terms of emergency protocol, equipment usage and safety measures
  • Develop, implement and monitor appropriate policy and practices to insure safe usage of climbing wall
  • Monitor the daily schedule of Recreation Center usage
  • Institute and oversee weekly training sessions for all approved belayers
  • Maintain and upkeep all equipment including cardio, circuit, free weights and wall climbing apparatus to insure safe usage
  • Submit annual budget to supervisor for all involved equipment and adjunct materials
  • Insure all equipment is professionally inspected on a bi-annual basis with documentation proof on file
  • Act as Strength and Conditioning Supervisor for 22 varsity sports by developing and overseeing programs in conjunction with coaches
  • Instruct on proper usage of equipment
  • Understand, agree to and sign annually the Athletics and Recreation Department’s and Atlantic East “Code of Conduct/Sportsmanship” policy. Act in a manner consistently reflective of its intent
  • Maintain all required certifications including CPR, First Aid, as well as in the areas of strength training/exercise prescriptions, climbing wall and coaching
  • Act as site supervisor/game management as assigned by the Assistant Director of Athletics and Recreation for Internal Operations
  • All other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Recreation

The Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach/Fitness Center and Conditioning Supervisor is responsible to the Assistant Director of Athletics and Recreation for Internal Operations.
