Suraci Gallery: Tranquil Currents, Mark Chuck, January 27 through March 2; Opening reception, Sat., Jan. 27, from 1-4 p.m. Tranquil Currents is a series of ceramic mugs, plates, vessels, and sculptures inspired by a lifetime of observation, appreciation, and, often, awe, of the magnificent creatures that live in the water and landscapes of northeastern Pennsylvania. Each piece is an ode to their natural beauty. Artist Mark Chuck, a ceramic artist and lifelong fisherman, begins his creative process long before entering the studio–on the banks of a river. Chuck, who teaches ceramics at Marywood, creates his works from porcelain, sculpting and glazing each piece by hand.
