Dr. Lizz Andrzejewski is an Assistant Professor of Architecture at Marywood University in Scranton, PA. She earned her doctorate in from The Pennsylvania State University.
Dr. Andrzejewski researches historical and contemporary architectural manufacturing and automation in construction through a dialog between theory and making. She is currently developing an Automated Building Machine, ABM as informed by a focused study of the 50+ year career of architect and engineer Konrad Wachsmann, 1901-1980. In 2018 she was a Summer Bauhaus Lab Scholar which resulted in The Art of Joining: Designing the Universal Connector. Her ongoing research on the work of Konrad Wachsmann has resulted in several publications and presentations.
As part of her hands-on research approach, Andrzejewski applies her passion for metal working and knowledge of blacksmithing, metal casting, and metal fabrication. Digital fabrication workflows with 3D printers, CNC routers, CNC plasma cutters, and Laser cutters contribute to prototypes and functional parts.
Lizz has practical experience in design and fabrication through building The Living Chapel, and through her work in the Research and Development department at Boyce Products Ltd. in Damascus PA.
