Mr. Haran is a retired Executive, having served in numerous leadership capacities in his 40 year career in healthcare administration, innovation based economic development, management consulting, media, brokerage and retail banking.
He was the Chief Information Officer for TMG Health from April 2011 to May 2014. In that capacity, Mr. Haran provided the vision and leadership required to maintain and improve TMG's industry-leading application of technology programs for government-sponsored health plans. He led the Company in planning and implementing a seamless information technology function over multiple geographic locations.
Prior to that, he was the President & Chief Executive Officer of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Technology Institute (NPTI) and Executive Director of the Great Valley Technology Alliance where he played an integral role in planning and developing programs and activities to help Lackawanna and Luzerne Counties (Pa.) progress toward an innovation/knowledge-based economy. He established the governing structure of the organization, which included 14 regional colleges and universities, and obtained over $25 million in Federal and State funding. His organization of an annual collegiate business plan competition resulted in the creation of 40 new companies in the region.
Prior to joining NPTI, Mr. Haran spent nearly 25 years in various executive management positions in the retail banking (Manufacturers Hanover Trust/Chemical Bank), media (NewsCorp) and consulting services (CyLogix/Keane) industries.
Mr. Haran is also an adjunct professor at Marywood University's School of Global Innovation and Business where he teaches various courses in information technology and management. He previously served as an Adjunct Instructor of Continuing Education for Penn State University, and at Misericordia University.
Mr. Haran holds a B.S. in Biology from the Stony Brook University and an M.S. in Management Sciences from the W. Averill Harriman College for Management Sciences at the State University of New York. He has completed additional post-graduate studies in Management Information Systems at Harvard University.
Mr. Haran was a founding board member of the Medical Education Development Consortium that led to the creation of The Geisinger Commonwealth Medical College, as well as a founding Board member of the Great Valley Technology Alliance. He serves on the Marywood University School of Business and Global Innovation Advisory Board. He has served as Treasurer on the Board of Directors of Johnson College, the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce, and as Treasurer on the Board of Directors of Elmhurst Country Club. He has served on several non-profit boards including Junior Achievement, American Heart Association, and is a past President of the Minisink Lion’s Club.
Mr. Haran splits his time between Moscow, Pa. and Naples, Fl. with his wife Donna. They have three adult children, Sabrina, Julie and Andrew.
