Research Interests
Dr. Rutter’s research interests include college/university mental health, suicide prevention, public health and other population-based approaches to mental health, psychology of religion, the five factor model of personality, and positive psychology. He teaches in the areas of psychotherapy skills training, psychopathology, and personality theory.
Jeff Rutter, Psy.D., directs the doctoral clinical psychology (Psy.D.) program at Marywood. Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, he began his career in ministry after graduating from Vanderbilt Divinity School and later enrolling at Wright State University to become a licensed clinical psychologist. He completed residency in clinical psychology and was commissioned an officer in the US Air Force, where he directed military mental health clinics and suicide prevention programs for a number of years. More recently, Dr. Rutter taught a variety of graduate courses and served as director of university counseling centers.
