At Marywood, you will find positions such as clerical office work, and computer assistants and musicians for campus ministry, art gallery assistants, life guards, and child care aides. We also offer Graduate Assistantships for students pursuing a master's degree at Marywood University. Apply for a Work Study Position

Placements for Federal Work Study jobs are through Human Resources.

Federal Work Study Students are paid bi-weekly. You will be responsible for tracking your hours and obtaining your supervisor’s signature on the student electronic timesheet. You will also find a Student Employment Information Sheet that you should review. It contains important information including due dates for submission of completed bi-weekly electronic timesheets and pay dates.

  1. You need to complete the Student Employment Interest Form. You can indicate up to three posted jobs for which you would like to be interviewed.
  2. Financial Aid will confirm your eligibility for Work Study and notify you via email.
  3. Once you have been notified by Financial Aid for your eligibility, you are responsible for contacting the departments and scheduling an interview. Interviews may take place over the summer, and may be done in person, or remotely, at the department’s discretion.
  4. Department(s) will notify you and Human Resources if you have been selected for a position.
  5. Once hired, Human Resources will email you.  If you are a new employee, you will be sent new hire paperwork to be completed and returned to HR. If you are a returning employee, you will receive a Frevo contract to be completed. You may do this once you are notified that you have been hired, or when you arrive for the fall semester, but before your first day of work. You cannot begin work until all required paperwork is completed and submitted to Human Resources.
  6. The required paperwork that you will need to complete includes Federal Form I-9 for identification and Form W-4 for federal tax purposes. You are required to bring your original forms of identification with you, copies cannot be accepted. You will need to know your security number, and for direct deposit you will need to provide a voided check or your account and routing number. Here is a list of acceptable documents you may provide to Human Resources.

African Sisters Education Collaborative (ASEC)

  • The Research Assistant (RA) will be involved in quantitative and qualitative data retrieval and management for research projects and publications from ASEC database and related resources.  The candidate will work with a team of collaborators from the Research and Evaluation Unit of ASEC to enhance best practices and development of research methods, creation of surveys that promote scholarly excellence, and quality work for publication.     Housing and Residence Life

    The Residence Directors (RDs) are appointed by the Assistant Director of Housing & Residence Life.

    General Summary of Duties:

    The Residence Director is a live-in master's or doctoral-level student who is responsible for the operation of one or two residential areas. This position requires the Residence Director to reside in their assigned on-campus apartment throughout the term of their appointment. The Residence Director is charged with shaping the environment and experiences of residential students by providing services and programs focused on Marywood mission and core values. The Residence Director fosters an environment which enhances student intellectual, social, spiritual and personal development; provides educational opportunities and academic support for students. The Residence Director selects, supervises, evaluates and trains RAs; serves as a conduct Hearing Officer in adjudicating policy violations; serves on the University’s on-call rotation; and is expected to respond to emergency situations as needed. The Residence Director also serves as a resource person and as the primary institutional representative responsible for Residence Hall administration according to University philosophy and policy. 

    Essential Functions:

    The Residence Director is responsible for communicating Housing and Residence Life processes, procedures, activities, programs, issues, and concerns between the Housing and Residence Life Office and resident students.

    The Residence Director establishes a rapport with students within their assigned residential area and assists students in the adjustment to university life.

    The Residence Director articulates and implements University and Housing and Residence Life policies and will counsel, advise, and refer students when necessary.

    Serve as a member of the Marywood University Conduct team and serve in roles as assigned.  Understand and support the divisional protocol regarding the Student Code of Conduct.

    The Residence Director will assist with case management of students within their assigned areas providing check-ins and follow-up as needed.

    The Residence Director is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of Residence Assistant (RAs) staff and provides ongoing training, supervision, evaluation and discipline for their assigned staff.

    The Residence Director is responsible for efficient openings and closings of a residence hall, check-ins/outs that occur throughout the year, and all administrative duties associated with these processes.

    Plan, implement and participate in Residence Assistant selection, training, supervision and evaluation. The Residence Director will directly supervise Resident Assistants within their assigned areas, and is responsible for scheduling Resident Assistants for duty coverage of their assigned residential area(s) including week days, weekends, and breaks.

    Develop and demonstrate a multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse and respectful community. Promote a flexible, collaborative and inclusive work and living environment and engage in educational opportunities to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion.

    Assume rotating on-call responsibility as assigned to support Housing and Residence Life.

    Serve on campus committees as appointed.

    Required Competencies:  

    A demonstrated ability to supervise student staff and maintain a rapport with residential students.

    Promotes an inclusive community through role modeling, challenging others, and emphasizing respect.

    Excellent communication, team building, and interpersonal skills along with a proven capacity for working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

    Preferred Education and Experience:

    Bachelor's Degree and previous experience in residence life or in a collegiate setting.

    Compensation: includes board while classes are in session during the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters, a furnished apartment, tuition remission (up to 24 credits annually), and a monthly stipend. All other University fees are the responsibility of the Residence Director.     Conference and Events Services

  • Assist the Office of Conference & Event Services with the summer residence camps and conferences.  Duties include
  • coordination of the check-in/check-out process,
  • preparation of and management of the key cards. 
  • Acting as a liaison between the guests and the University including being on 24hr. call on a rotation basis. 
  • In addition this position also works with the office staff on pre-conference/camp preparations.
  • Position to include room and board for the 13 weeks in addition to wages as compensation.


    Required Qualifications:

    Educational – Full Time College Student.  Must possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills.  Must be able to multi-task.  Possess a valid Driver’s License.  Lifeguard Certification preferred.

    Apply for a Graduate Assistantship

    NOTE: All students interested in applying for a Graduate Assistantship listed should read the Conditions of Appointment for Graduate Assistantships and Application Process prior to submitting an application.

    Once job descriptions and required skills have been posted, the application process opens in February each year.

    Assistantships will be in effect for the 2024-2025 academic year, commencing with the first day of the fall semester and terminating the last day of the spring semester.

    Students awarded full-time or part-time graduate assistantships will register for and complete a minimum of 6 graduate credits each semester and must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on studentaid.gov. For full-time graduate assistantships, the University will provide tuition remission for 4.5 credits for the fall semester and 4.5 credits of tuition remission for the spring semester. For part-time graduate assistantships, the University will provide tuition remission for 2.25 credits for the fall semester and 2.25 credits of tuition remission for the spring semester. Students with full-time graduate assistantships will work, on average, 20 hours per week, for a maximum of 640 hours per academic year, while students with part-time graduate assistantships will work, on average, 10 hours per week for a maximum of 320 hours per academic year. The tuition remission will not be credited to a student's account without a valid FAFSA on file with the Financial Aid Office. *International students are exempt from the FAFSA requirement.*

    Compensation is paid to students on two-week intervals. Graduate assistants may only perform work while the Fall 2024 semester and the Spring 2025 semester are in session.

    If you receive and accept a graduate assistantship, you relinquish any claim to graduate scholarship program awards for that academic year.

    Graduate assistants are expected to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.25 each semester. Current graduate students must maintain a cumulative graduate GPA of 3.25 to renew or receive consideration for a new graduate assistantship position.

    If you must resign from an assistantship prior to the end of your appointment (except in the event of illness or disability resulting in the inability to fulfill the requirements of the assistantship), the following conditions will apply:

    If your resignation or termination becomes effective at the end of the fall semester, you will forfeit tuition remission for the spring semester.

    If your resignation or termination becomes effective at any time prior to the end of your contracted term, your tuition discount will be prorated pursuant to the number of weeks remaining in the semester from the date of resignation or termination, and you will be responsible for repayment of any tuition balance due thereafter. The prorated amount shall be calculated by the Financial Aid Office and must be paid to the Cashier's Office within 30 days of the adjustment. You will also forfeit the remaining stipend pursuant to the number of weeks remaining in the semester.

    If you resign from your assistantship, it is strongly recommended that you give a minimum of two weeks notice in writing to your supervisor.

    The University reserves the right, after giving 30 days notice, to terminate the assistantship on the recommendation of your supervisor or dean if you fail to perform assigned duties satisfactorily, to meet academic standards set by the University, or to conform to the policies of the University.

    Graduate assistantships are not renewed automatically. It is the responsibility of the student to apply for these opportunities for the next academic year by the established deadline.

    Gross and/or willful misconduct or moral turpitude will result in immediate termination of the assistantship appointment.

    Marywood University abides by The Council of Graduate Schools' Resolution Regarding Graduate Scholars, Fellows, Trainees and Assistants. An acceptance given or left in force after April 15 commits the student not to accept another offer without first obtaining a written release from Marywood University. Similarly, an offer by Marywood University after April 15 is conditional on presentation by the student of the written release from any previously accepted offer.

They report to the Senior Program Manager, Programs, and the Senior Program Manager, Monitoring and Evaluation in the office of the African Sisters Education Collaborative (ASEC) at Marywood University. In this role, the GA's primary responsibilities are to provide administrative support for the implementation of program monitoring, evaluation, and administrative activities, e.g. recruitment and workshops; management of student/program data; and fulfillment of grant reporting and accountability. The GA will enter/file student, partner, and program data and documents through organizational information management systems. They will maintain program administrative email accounts, communicating with students, staff, and constituents in ten countries in Africa. They will support the development/maintenance of program informational documents. They will enter quantitative data into SPSS and enter/code qualitative data, including transcripts. They will track submission of student/alumnae evaluative surveys and forms. They will coordinate with ASEC staff in Africa for the coordination of ASEC program activities and distribution and submission of student/alumnae evaluation forms. As needed, the GA will engage in research relevant to ASEC programs. This position requires strong writing and communications skills; familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suites; critical thinking; organizational skills; ability to work in a team; multicultural competence; and knowledge of research.     Athletics and Recreation

    Marywood University, a Division III member of the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) is currently seeking candidates for Graduate Assistant in Athletics and Recreation for the 2024-2025 academic year. The Athletics Graduate Assistant will assist in achieving Marywood University's strategic initiative to grow recruitment and retention within the Athletics and Recreation Department and greater Marywood University community via intramurals and recreation programming, community and student experience (fan experience), fundraising for teams and department, and assistance with community service projects and admissions events (open houses). Sample of position responsibilities: -Complete coursework toward your Master's degree while getting hands on job experience -Assist Intramurals and Recreation Coordinator in creating programming; coordinate with Student Engagement Office/Director on game/fan experience. -Work directly with the Director of Athletics and Pacers Club to increase fundraising avenues for the Department and teams through the annual Golf Tournament.     School of Business and Global Innovation

    Working with MU staff and facilitators of our Chinese program with Zijing Education along with other partners to help facilitate our continued growth. This person would work directly with Admissions, IT, Registrar and other administrators on campus to facilitate student enrollment. Additionally, they will be working with faculty on class delivery in all aspects including translating lectures and powerpoints, assessing student success and helping deliver quality content to students. Hours are non standard and require late evening and early morning schedules.

    Exercise Science

    The Exercise Science Department Graduate Assistant is responsible for providing crucial support in various areas. This includes actively participating in university and departmental open houses to showcase the program's strengths and engage with prospective students. The Graduate Assistant will also play a key role in supporting faculty members and contributing to the academic success of undergraduate students. This support extends to assisting students in their community service initiatives and professional development endeavors. The overarching goal is to enhance the overall student experience, promote the program's visibility, and contribute to the success of both faculty and undergraduate students in the Exercise Science Department.

    Office of Global Eduation

    The Office of Global Education has a great opportunity for a graduate assistant (GA) to provide support to the office by helping the Associate Provost for Global Education to coordinate programs, events, and activities for the Marywood community as well as international students and scholars. The GA is to help promote international education programs and study-abroad programs and coordinate logistics matters for on-/off-campus cultural activities for international students. The GA should be able to provide the Marywood community with opportunities for the Marywood community to become familiar with and gain an appreciation for other cultures as we prepare our campus to engage with a global society. The GA should be able to effectively communicate in a professional, diplomatic, empathetic manner using the preferred method and level as applicable to the tasks. The ideal candidate will be someone who is a critical thinker, creative, well organized, has excellent communication skills, and can work both independently as well as within a team environment. Therefore, the GA must have well-developed multicultural competencies and provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible, and professional engagement.

    Nutrition and Dietetics

    The primary duty of the full-time (20 hours/week) GA for the undergraduate and graduate programs within the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics will be to support the designated Nutrition and Dietetics faculty mentors with literature reviews, research, grant/project proposal writing, data collection and analysis, as well as with developing manuscripts, posters, and presentation slides. This will allow the GA to gain experience in all facets of the research process from proposal development and submission, to collecting and interpreting results, and manuscript development. They will gain experience with SPSS, and other quantitative and qualitative data analysis programs. The GA will also assist faculty with the development of programs that support research initiatives and/or departmental goals. Additionally, the GA will gain insight and experience in program accreditation practices by working with a program director to evaluate the current effectiveness of quality assurance (QA). The GA will assist with outcomes data collection and will develop effective QA data presentations, analyze the meaning of the data, and revise policies and procedures based on the data. The GA will also assist with enrollment efforts through recruitment, marketing, and social media activities for our undergraduate and graduate programs. Tasks include, but are not limited to, communication with prospective students, conducting tours of the campus and department, as well as preparing for and participating in recruitment activities (such as departmental Open House events). The time spent on each duty will vary each week. The faculty mentors will work closely with the GA to prioritize the weekly duties and manage their time. This GA will have a founder's mentality and will utilize their curiosity and creativity to collaborate with the faculty mentors to achieve the outlined goals. The GA will be adaptable, confident, self-motivated, and friendly. They will have both cognitive and technical skills and will demonstrate a desire to further develop these and other skills through collaboration and mentorship.

    Professional Continuing Education

    The Professional Continuing Education Graduate Assistant will be responsible for collaborating with the PCE Coordinator in offering new educational opportunities encompassing virtual and onsite learning initiatives. These targeted opportunities will assist individuals in obtaining non-credit bearing certifications and professionals maintaining professional certifications, along with other identified needs (e.g., personal enrichment) within the regional workforce at large. This individual will be responsible in aiding the Coordinator with all applicable operational duties including interaction with the community on behalf of the University as needed.

    Social Science Department

    The student's assistantship duties will entail: 1) conducting research using the Marywood library databases and Google scholar; 2) working with library staff to acquire research articles as well as book chapters that may not be available directly through databases such as EBSCO host and Google scholar; 3) reading and summarizing peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters; 4) finding and downloading data from websites such as ICPSR; 5) working on departmental and related websites; 6) review transcriptions of interviews for errors; 7) attending weekly or bi-weekly meetings with other Marywood faculty to discuss the results of these inquires.
