The University's NSSLHA Chapter Wins Gold Award
The National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) has awarded Marywood University’s NSSLHA Chapter with 2018 Gold Chapter Honors.
Efforts made by the NSSLHA Chapter at Marywood University helped National NSSLHA to increase awareness of communication sciences and disorders (CSD) among state and federal legislators; to provide scholarships to students in CSD programs by contributing to a donation of more than $10,000 to the ASHFoundation’s NSSLHA Scholarship; to raise more than $15,250 for the 2017-2018 NSSLHA Loves campaign; and to support clients, students, and organizations in local communities across the nation.
NSSLHA chapter advisor, Andrea Novak, stated, “I am so proud of the young men and women in our program for taking an interest in raising awareness of communication disorders in the community. Their fundraising, community service, and advocacy efforts throughout the year demonstrate their dedication to the field of speech-language pathology.”
National NSSLHA Chapter Honors are awarded to affiliated NSSLHA chapters that demonstrate an outstanding effort to support National NSSLHA’s mission to inspire, empower, and support students in communication sciences and disorders programs.
The NSSLHA Chapter at Marywood University is housed within the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, which offers a five-year bachelor to master’s degree program in speech-language pathology.
The National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) is the only national student organization for pre-professionals studying communication sciences and disorders (CSD) recognized by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Established in 1972, National NSSLHA is headquartered in Rockville, Maryland, and supports more than 13,000 members and more than 300 chapters at colleges and universities nationwide.
