Maria C. Gogal
Ms. Gogal, Pottstown, PA, is Director & Oncology Team Lead in Global Expert Input and Medical Education, Global Expert Management & Strategy at Merck Sharp & Dohme LLC. Maria works out of the North Wales, PA office. She has worked for Merck since 2001, initially as a contractor, and was then hired as Specialty Support for Medical Education and Exhibits in 2004 after graduating from Marywood University. Ms. Gogal then went on to be a coordinator in the External Scientific and Input area in the Global Human Health (GHH) division. After these roles, she spent ten years in Merck’s Compliance Division as a manager in both Global International Compliance and US Compliance before moving to Merck Research Laboratories (MRL) in 2017 where she took on her current position supporting Oncology Medical Affairs.
She has earned various special achievement, excellence and inspire awards for Merck project work over the years. Ms. Gogal has been involved in many local church community activities, including efforts such as Feed My Starving Children, and sponsoring a child in El Salvador through Compassion International for many years. Her community contributions include volunteer work for several non-profit organizations, including the Development Committee for the Women’s Health and Counseling Center at Zufall Health Center, American Cancer Society, America’s Grow a Row, etc.
She was inducted into Marywood University’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015 for her outstanding achievements as a MU college tennis player. Because of her skill and commitment as an athlete, she also earned the Mary Beth Salmon Award for Dedication in 2004. While at Marywood, Ms. Gogal also was an academic leader, with memberships in Kappa Gamma Pi (National Catholic College Graduate Honor Society) and Psi Chi (Psychology National Honor Society), as well as Delta Epsilon Sigma (National Scholastic Honor Society) and the Psychology Club, two groups for which she also served as President.
As a 2004 graduate of Marywood University, Ms. Gogal holds a Bachelor of Science degree, magna cum laude, in Industrial/Organizational Psychology with a minor in Business. In 2011, she earned a Master of Science in Jurisprudence degree in Health, Science, and Technology Law, magna cum laude, from Seton Hall University of Law, Newark, N.J., where she was awarded “Student of the Year for Outstanding Studies” for being first in her class. Her studies focused on Health Law and Intellectual Property. Additionally, Ms. Gogal has completed the Healthcare Compliance Leadership Program at INSEAD (Business School of the World) in Insead, France, as well as the Seton Hall Law/SciencesPo Healthcare Compliance Leadership Program in Paris, France. She is Green and Black Six Sigma Belt Certified.
