Phil Jenkins received his BA in Psychology from University of Texas, Austin in 1996, and his PhD in Philosophy at Temple University in 2006. He is currently Associate Professor of Philosophy at Marywood University in Scranton, PA. Before coming to Marywood in the Fall of 2007, Phil Jenkins taught at University of Arkansas at Little Rock,
Hunter College and John Jay College, both in New York City, and Temple University, in Philadelphia, PA.
His current research interests are in philosophy of psychology, philosophy of music, philosophy of the self and emotions, and ethics. Dr. Jenkins has had a lifelong interest in psychology (both research and clinical) and the arts, particularly painting, photography, film, dance, and theater, as well as rock, jazz, classical, and avant-garde music.
Jenkins has been a drummer since the age of 11, and has been a member of many semi-successful but mostly unknown rock bands over the years; including the space rock band Surface of Eceon with whom he recorded two full length records and several compilations in the early 2000's.
