The College of Health and Sciences continues to demonstrate excellence in health and counseling education, as multiple academic programs have recently received reaffirmed and continued accreditation from national accrediting bodies.
The University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.A.) and School Counseling (M.S.) programs, housed in the College of Health Sciences, have both earned reaffirmation of accreditation from the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs following a comprehensive review process. The decision affirms that both programs are in full compliance with national standards and will remain accredited through April 30, 2034.
Accreditation was granted after an in-depth evaluation that included a self-study, a site visit, and institutional response materials. The reaffirmation highlights the strength of Marywood’s counseling programs, which are primarily delivered in person at the Scranton campus, with additional hybrid and online course options offered during the summer.
In addition, Marywood’s Physician Assistant Program has been awarded Accreditation-Continued status by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant. This designation indicates that the program remains in compliance with national accreditation standards and is committed to ongoing quality improvement.
The next review for the Physician Assistant Program is scheduled for January 2036. As part of maintaining accreditation, the program will complete periodic compliance reporting and continue to meet all ARC-PA standards.
Together, these accreditation outcomes reflect Marywood University’s ongoing commitment to academic quality, student success, and preparing graduates for impactful careers in healthcare and counseling professions.
