I chose Marywood because for its community and affordability. I would encourage international students to check out Marywood's scholarships and financial aid packages to see for themselves.
Bipasna Shakya '24
Marywood has amazingly knowledgeable professors in marketing and business in general. I started the program as student and I graduated as a professional marketer. I say that because the environment I experienced was just great, when I started my degree, my English was far from perfect but I didn't have difficulties in classes whether participation or working with my classmates even though I was kind of older than other students, but it didn't make different, at Marywood age is just a number. Classmates were helpful and teachers were unbelievably amazing. Now I went back home and started my new career in Saudi Telecom Company, the biggest telecom company in Middle East. Thanks to Marywood community.
Mohammed Alfouzan '20
Marywood and its profound courses have given me a chance to explore many areas of learning in my life. I have already made many friends and started networking which will be beneficial to me for a lifetime. The best thing about Marywood in my perspective would be the faculty members, the professors are very kind to us and helpful in any way possible.
Adnan Shaikh '22
Small classes mean you have more interaction with the students and professors. Also, you will be able to concentrate more on the information, including discussions, lectures, and presentations.

Veteran Testimonials
"My Marywood Experience has been phenomenal. I started my Marywood journey in 2020, the peak of COVID, but was pleased to find that Marywood offered new ways to get involved and stay active despite restrictions. I originally studied architecture, but when I opted to switch to studying business, the faculty and staff made sure I knew it was the best decision. I have thrived in the business program, achieving the Dean's List each semester in this study and getting involved in opportunities I could not have imagined. I have been inducted into the Business international Honor Society Delta Mu Delta, and the Catholic University national honor society Delta Epsilon Sigma. With the School of Business, I worked with Dr. Speicher and local businesses in a Lackawanna County TecBRIDGE "Business Plan Competition" where I competed with my entrepreneurial idea and gained valuable experience in every aspect of business, all stemming from my entrepreneurship class. I am also representing Marywood University in Poland this summer with the School of Business for a Business Symposium in partnership with an international business program X-Culture. Marywood University and the School of Business has given me amazing experiences I could not have imagined beforehand and is truly setting me up to have a successful career in any industry surrounding business."
Michael Patrick Romano '24
When I first started Marywood, I was an unconventional student. I was older, a veteran and a single mother. Everyone from the President down to the staff always welcomed not just me but also that my baby. There were times I had to bring her to classes with me and my professors were so amazing! The fact that Marywood had a daycare on campus was a huge selling point to me. I could not have done this without your help! Thank you Marywood.
Amber Viola '20
I am Peter Howey. I’ve been a student at Marywood since Spring 2016 and have been studying Criminal Justice ever since. I strive to instill all Marywood’s core values by helping everyone that needs help.
Peter Tyler, K. Howey '24
"I chose to study Criminal Justice because it is one of the majors that got hand in hand with my job in the military. Marywood has instilled important values that help me complete all my assignments in a timely manner without any discrepancies which results in no re-work. This pays dividends in my career because no one wants to have a worker who can’t complete tasks in a timely manner."

Donor Gratitude Testimonials
I would like to thank all Marywood team, donors administrative staff, and well-wishers for all supports and continued assistance all these hard years. I would come all all these way without the support of above great hearts.
Narad Pokhrel '22
“There is not enough thanks I could say to all the Marywood donors. With the tremendous and outstanding donations, you are the ones who make it possible for students like me to become successful. You help make our dreams come true. Many of us would not be here if not for your generous gifts."
If given a chance to thank the thousands of donors at Marywood, I would start by letting them know what an honor it is to meet them in person as I shake their hands. Then I would express my gratitude by thanking each and everyone of them from the bottom of my heart for the opportunity which they have given to myself and all the other students here at Marywood to follow our career paths. Because of their great generosity students like me have a real chance to a bright and successful future. This is a gift that is priceless, everlasting, and shines bright like the sun over the earth.
Vonette Muir-Castelblano '23
Thank you so much for supporting my education at Marywood. Your support truly enables me to accomplish my dreams of becoming a Speech-Language Pathologist and helping others for the rest of my life. I am so blessed that, because of this scholarship, I am attending a school that cares about my success, encourages me to become a leader, and gives me numerous opportunities to serve those in need throughout the community. Words cannot describe how thankful I am for you and your amazing support!
Kelly Moreno '23
There are not enough words to explain the gratitude I have for those who have helped make a financial contribution to support my education here at Marywood. Your support keeps me striving to follow through and be the best teacher I can be. It also makes me want to teach my future students the importance of helping others. If it wasn’t for those of you who made a contribution, I most likely would have given up on my dreams, and I am just so, so, so, thankful! THANK YOU!
Paige Gill '23
Scholarship support not only gives me the opportunity to pursue my education at Marywood, but also to grow personally. I have been able to join many organizations where I was given leadership opportunities. I have also taken advantage of many of the service events on campus. All of these opportunities have helped me grow my confidence, meet amazing people, and have countless learning experiences along the way.

“Every donation that alumni and donors have (made to) Marywood University has helped the student with various needs. These donations and the time the donors have (given to) Marywood are immensely appreciated.”
Evelyn Thomas '25
Because of the generosity of Marywood alumni and friends, I have the ability to pursue an exceptional post-secondary education, learn in a comfortable environment, spend time with valuable people, and make unforgettable memories. I have made friends I hope to never lose, been involved in my community more than ever, and I have learned so much about myself in the process. As a pre-PA major, I am working hard to be accepted into the Marywood Physician Assistant Program in my sophomore year. This motivated me to become a nurse’s assistant at a local rehabilitation hospital and learn the basic ins and outs of patient care. Two specialties that interest me are Pediatrics and Cardiology - once I graduate, I look forward to working in healthcare. I am very grateful for the education I am receiving, for my hometown, and my community. In the future, I plan to pay it forward staying involved as a Marywood alumna, serving as a Physician’s Assistant, and maintaining valuable relationships with my family and my community. The support our generous donors provide has granted me numerous experiences and will continue to make a lasting impact on my life. In the future, I would like give back to Marywood in order to inspire Marywood students, just like our current donors have inspired me.” THANK YOU for giving me the gift of opportunity. I hope to do the same for others!
Samantha Mushak '21
Donors are a big reason that I can do what I do, that other students can do what they do. Donor support plays a vital role in maintaining the momentum that keeps Marywood graduates a cut above the rest.

Campus Ministry Testimonials
Marywood became a home quickly. After this it become a life changing place where I could continue to explore who I am and what it is that I want my life to be about. I was gifted countless lessons, memories, and moments from dozens of mentors, professors, staff, and fellow students. This community gave me the safe space to transform into who I want to be.
Brien Luke McChesney '21
My Marywood experience has been incredible. I knew from the first time I stepped on this campus that I was in a community of people that I already loved, I just needed to meet them all! I have met some of the most important people in my life here, and learned the most important lessons. I learned about living on my own, about independence, and about being myself 24/7. I learned how to speak and listen to God. I learned how to love and to be loved by people who really saw me.

Athletic Testimonials
I chose Marywood because they took a chance on me. After two years of community college and a ton of college applications, Marywood was the only school to accept every single one of my credits, so I knew that Marywood wanted me here as much as I wanted to be here. I fell in love with the campus, the fun environment, the swimming program, and the Business department that put me in the position to succeed today and for the rest of my life, and I'm ecstatic to be a part of Marywood's MBA program over the next two years! I couldn't be more proud to be a Pacer!

I came to Marywood to be able to do art while continuing my love for swimming. I've enjoyed the community and atmosphere of my classes. I was lucky to be given the chance to do eSports as I love video games as much as swimming and art.

Zoe Simeone '20
All four years my experience improved as I got to know the Marywood community better. It had its ups and downs throughout my journey but I would without a doubt do it again. I've learned so much being away from my parents and the life lessons I've learned will be with me in the future. I have learned so much from my professors and I'm confident that the information I've learned will help me in the future. I'm proud of the support the Marywood community has gave me to push through my journey in this University.
Joseph Monaghan '21
I have had a very unforgettable experience at Marywood. This school gave me the opportunity to enhance my academic knowledge while still being able to play two sports throughout my undergraduate career. The 3-2 Pre-PA program was a great way for me to jumpstart my future in something I was passionate about. Both the curriculum and the social atmosphere were unmatched. I made some many great friends and so many more amazing memories that I will take with me forever. When originally looking at this school, I was very happy with what it had to offer and I was even more pleased with how my college experienced turned out.
Cara Romaniello '22
Right off the bat, Marywood began sending me to school districts in order to get first-hand experience in my field. I completed a 5 year program and received both my Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree at Marywood. Within that time, I also completed field work as a student observer and teacher at more than 6 different schools. I felt well prepared for my career and future. The classes I took were engaging, and the professors I had were inspiring and motivating.
Emily Kotcho '19
I chose Marywood because of the small, friendly campus and the opportunity to be part of the Lacrosse team. I chose to major in Financial Crime Investigation because it seems like an exciting career, giving me the opportunity to solve financial crimes. This career will allow me to make a positive difference in today's society.
Brady Law '27
Coming to Marywood has allowed me to pursue a higher education, play field hockey at the collegiate level, become involved in clubs, volunteer in community based events, and make lifelong friends. I also am pursuing a minor in Caribbean, Latinx and Latin American Studies. The professors in the Spanish department have been super helpful by guiding me as I prepare to study abroad, and make learning a second language a positive and enjoyable experience.
Corrin Hasty '25
My time at Marywood has helped me to grow as an individual both personally and academically. During my time at Marywood I was able to find my confidence and passion through the architecture program learning how design with communities and allow space for conversations to happen.
I was also able to continue my love for soccer in playing for the Marywood University Women’s Soccer team for the first four years of my undergrad. Finally I found myself in a position to take on leadership roles within this amazing community both within and beyond my department between the multiple honors organizations and service opportunities on campus.
My time at Marywood has been extraordinary and I couldn’t imagine having lived and learned anywhere else!
Rebecca Dolgas '21
I’m always so appreciative of the community at Marywood. I don’t live close enough to go home until the end of the semester, but Marywood has truly become my home away from home. The friends I’ve made in my almost three semesters here have become my second family, and their endless support of me and my endeavors is reflective of the overall Marywood community. Thank you so much for your support of my education! Receiving this scholarship means that I can continue to focus on my studies and gives me a greater sense of security in purchasing materials and programs for all of my projects - and allows me to be a part of this amazing community!
Hailey Gaines '24
Marywood has truly changed my life.
I came in with little direction and little confidence and by getting involved with the Office of Student Engagement and the Cross Country and Track and Field teams, I was really able to find my purpose and grow into an extremely confident and capable individual. Marywood allowed me to do everything I wanted to do, from Student Government Association to Chamber Singers to even serving as Summer Orientation Co-Chair, and I couldn’t be more grateful!
Madison Howell '24
I chose Marywood because it provided the perfect opportunity to continue my athletic career while also pursuing a five year masters degree in speech language pathology. The numerous opportunities and clubs offered here have also allowed me to make lifetime friends and build my resume for a future job.
Angela Genter '23
I've had a great experience at Marywood so far! The extracurricular opportunities and sports teams I am a part of have already made my time here so great, and I can't wait to continue to make positive impacts in the future!

Empower Testimonials
I am neither an alumna of Marywood nor a native of the surrounding community. Throughout the years, before becoming a Trustee of the University, I have observed and admired Marywood from the outside as it continually redefines itself in an ever-changing educational landscape while being unwaveringly true to its mission. I am proud to sit on a Board that is forward-looking. Marywood itself is empowered by its ability to adapt and go forward. Whether you are on the Board, a student, a faculty member, or an administrator, you are part of a dynamic community, an empowering feeling you sense the moment you step on campus.

As members of the IHM Congregation, Sisters are encouraged to read the signs of the times and look for unmet needs, and I really feel that's what Marywood does. Like the development of new programs to meet today’s needs. We’re not holding fast to tradition to keep those majors that were important years ago. We are updating our facilities so they are state-of-the-art, so our students can learn in the best environment possible and be prepared for the future. We are meeting the changing needs of the workforce today. That’s what Marywood is doing: keeping pace with the changing times and trends.
Sister Kathleen M. Lunsmann, IHM, 1985
Marywood University is growing to meet the needs of students and the community. There is a lot of division and conflict in the world. Unfortunately, college campuses are not immune to this conflict. Marywood creates and sustains a family, faith-based environment. This does and will differentiate us from other institutions. Marywood cares. The Marywood community really cares about people, students, and the institution. I feel the positive energy on campus when I am there. Looking forward, I think it's very important that we continue producing well-rounded students. Students that are not only trained in a specific vocation, but also taught to critically think, effectively communicate, and appreciate the liberal arts. There is a dire need for healthcare professionals in our region and throughout Pennsylvania. By enhancing our health sciences curriculum and facilities, Marywood is answering the call to meet the needs of today and tomorrow.
Robert S. Tamburro
Marywood contributes to society well-educated individuals who will be leaders in our communities and world. I feel that my gifts to Marywood have supported the educational experience, empowering students to embrace future societal and personal demands and effecting positive change.

Over the past six years as I have become reacquainted with Marywood, I have been most impressed with the University's capacity for change. It is impressive to see the way its purpose has been expanded from being primarily a classical liberal arts college to become a university with liberal arts at the core but with an increasing array of high-quality professional education opportunities; programs that better fit students to current employment opportunities.
Bernadette Gray-Little, 1966, Ph.D.
I owe much of my success to the invaluable experiences and education I received at Marywood. The University played a pivotal role in shaping my journey, and I am honored to give back through the EMPOWER campaign. Supporting the campaign is my way of ensuring that current and future students have the same opportunities for growth and empowerment that I was fortunate to receive. Marywood instilled in me a sense of purpose, and as a donor, I am committed to being a catalyst for positive change in the lives of students who aspire to reach their fullest potential.
Michael E. Bugno, 1998
Upgrading the program’s environment will provide a new energy to the development as a whole, in the Marywood community. The Nursing Program expansion will bring in a whole new generation of students who will have a bigger and better facility to practice in with state-of-the-art advancement. This will be great for future students!

Transfer Testimonials
Marywood has especially been supportive in my pursuit of a career in medicine through the guidance of my advisors to enroll in enriching course for my biology major and for preprofessional studies. Marywood promotes an environment of inclusion making it easy for anyone to become involved on campus in academic endeavors and in extracurricular activities, including the Transfer Student Association. Overall, Marywood has challenged me in the classroom, elevated my faith, and allowed me to grow as a person.
Andrew Kohut '23
My transfer experience was nothing short of excellent. The admissions officers I spoke to were Tina Menn and Lori Orr and they were both amazing to work with. Tina helped me in the beginning when I first was applying. She answered every question I posed and even suggested a zoom with Professor James Eckler to talk to me about the construction management program. I am so grateful to both Tina and Professor Eckler for taking the time to meet with me on Zoom in the middle of their summer! It really showed me how much they cared about making my experience great from the start and helped me seal the deal with my commitment to Marywood. I spoke with Lori Orr after I was accepted and was lining up my classes. She helped me create a schedule that worked for me and explained all the different options as a transfer regarding general education credits as well as what I needed for my program. Everyone was eager to help me and wanted what was best for me. That's how I knew Marywood was the right choice, everyone here tends to each student personally and making real connections is so easy.
Allyson Hourigan '27
Marywood has been amazing for me! After starting my collegiate career in Pittsburgh, I realized I wasn’t following my real passions in life. I came back home to find the perfect fit at Marywood in their flight program! Marywood’s staff and faculty are second to none and the smaller campus really allows that to shine, with each one of my professors showing a true desire to ensure we are all being given the best education possible. If being a pilot or working in the aviation industry has ever interested you, Marywood is the place to be!
Jake Arnold '21
What originally drew me to Marywood was the baseball program, and after coming on a visit and being blown away by the campus, I knew I had found the right school. The biggest thing that stands out to me since transferring here is the welcoming environment Marywood has to offer. I am very excited about what else Marywood has to offer me, and I can truly say that I am proud to be a part of the Marywood family.
James Daly '24
I transferred to Marywood in the fall of 2018. I felt so out of place at my old school but was immediately welcomed to Marywood’s campus and the art department. I chose to study art therapy because I have always loved helping people and I believe art has so many healing properties. The art therapy program here at Marywood has helped me find my passion for helping those in need as well as my own path as an artist. Marywood has helped me grow into the person I am now, and I can’t wait to share my love of art with those who need it! Some of my favorite places on campus include the art therapy studio and the view from the third floor hallway of Insalaco!
Claire Little, '21
Coming in as a transfer student I was worried of how behind I would be and not being able to make friends for the next couple years I had. That was not the case at all. It’s an amazing feeling knowing that I’m 100% supported by not only my classmates but my instructors as well. I am honored to not just be a number in my program but and actual person where classmates and staff truly and genuinely want what’s best for you.
Hope Geis '23
Through the strong community created by the university, I got to know and build connections with many of my fellow students and professors which helped me to confirm that this was right where I was supposed to be. When transferring, I knew that getting involved was something I was looking forward to, which led me to working in the lab as a lab assistant. Through taking advantage of the many opportunities that Marywood has provided, I feel as though I am ready and well equipped to move on to the next chapter of my life.
Emily Haley '22
As a transfer student, I had no idea what I was walking into, but everyone in my program was super supportive and helped me get where I am now. I can recall some moments that definitely tested my ability to overcome obstacles, but I can also say I will miss those challenges that shaped me into an educated and marketable individual pursuing a long road filled with successes and failures, but most importantly, positive growth. Thank you, Marywood.
Fernando Obando '20
I transferred to Marywood in fall 2020 and here I discovered my passion for education and student engagement with the help of the Career Development Center. I am currently a senior Early Childhood and Elementary Education/ Special Education major and plan to pursue a masters in Higher Education Administration. Marywood’s welcoming and supportive community has given me the opportunity to pursue my interests and become my best self.
Hadley Gilbert '23
I transferred to Marywood in the fall of 2020 as a sophomore. From the start, Marywood gave me all of the tools and opportunities to be able to learn and flourish. I am extremely grateful to all of my nursing professors and classmates as they have not only encouraged me but have pushed me to be the absolute nurse that I could possibly be. I wouldn’t trade my experience for the world.
Hailey Gianoni '23
I absolutely adore Marywood! When I first transferred to Marywood from Pittsburgh, I was quite skeptical of the school, but was quickly blown away by the number and overall spectacle of activities put on by all committees on campus. The kindness of kids you meet around campus is off the charts, and the professors are super, super helpful with anything you need! I could not be happier with my decision to transfer to Marywood and I look forward to many more years at the school!

Alumni Testimonials
My favorite thing about Marywood is how welcoming of an environment it is. I remember my freshman year going through a period of shock at how kind and friendly everyone really is, and I felt like there was a certain standard of kindness to live up to.
Throughout my time at Marywood, every club and organization I’ve joined has welcomed me with open arms and brought me lifelong friends.
Aubrey Haskell '21
I have loved every second of my Marywood Experience! The teachers and faculty are always here to give students a helping hand. The campus is always beautiful and clean. Everyone is very friendly.

I grew up in the area, and I want to stay here where I can make a difference in building up students to better themselves, which in turn betters the area. I hope to teach in Lackawanna or Wayne County post-graduation.
The Nutrition and Dietetics program offers a route for juniors to incorporate internships into their academic experience, which is very helpful to international students since we have multiple challenges, including extra paperwork, in order to obtain internship experiences.
Sook Jinn "Diane" Leow '12
I’ve always had a passion for telling stories artistically through the lens of a camera. As soon as I enrolled into Marywood’s Communication Arts program as a Digital Media/Broadcast Production student, I was able to dive right into working on several projects alongside my peers. There are many opportunities for COMM students to create their own content whether it’s a short film, an original series, a blog, a radio talk show, etc. We have a great community of students and professors within our department that are working together to draw out our potential.
Jenny Nguyen '21
I came to Marywood assuming I knew what I wanted out of life- like many 18-year-olds I had the belief that I knew more than anyone else what I wanted and what I would be able to accomplish. And, like many young college students, I was wrong! I changed my major (and went through a few minors) TWICE at this university, went through periods where I wasn't sure I was going to accomplish ANYTHING- but the faculty at Marywood showed me otherwise. I owe everything to my advisor and professors who talked with me through every up and down in my college career, and now I finally feel like I'll make the mark on the world that I was always meant to.
A big part of this was when I had the chance to start an internship with the Lackawanna River Conservation Association, a local environmental nonprofit focused on protecting our watershed and the natural landscape of our region. It was here that I was able to become part of a movement bigger than myself for the first time, and be part of a team that truly valued me- not just what I could do for them. Through my work at the LRCA I've found a great passion for community-wide education and outreach on local and global environmental issues, and have found likewise a renewed respect for those who work tirelessly in the nonprofit sector.
Again, I owe this opportunity to my advisor- I think Marywood's faculty are a physical testament to the fact that there are people who care about you beyond just your academic or career success, and while they will absolutely set you up for that success to earn the recognition you deserve, they also work to ensure that you, too, can be proud of yourself. Marywood is a place where you can be free to change for the better, and be supported the whole way!
Emily Haggerty '24
I have had several leadership opportunities and service experiences in my time at Marywood. My latest achievement was spending a week in San Lucas, Guatemala, on the Campus Ministry Alternative Break Medical Mission trip. The greatest lesson I’ve learned since attending Marywood has been to say yes. Incredible things can happen when you move out of your comfort zone and accept all of the opportunities that come your way.
Carrie Kraynak '24
Coming to Marywood as a non-traditional student, starting my undergraduate degree at the age of 27, I quickly became comfortable in this new setting with the help of my peers & faculty. My professors always treated me with respect and spoke to me as an adult which eased my anxiety of starting this new journey alone. Fast forward almost 5 years, about to graduate with my Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master's degree, I am proud and grateful for my time here. I feel extremely fortunate to be a Marywood Alumni and, continuing my education, to be earning my graduate degree here as well later this year.

Personally, I like smaller sized schools because I would be able to build a relationship with my professors, and I was able to do just that with all my professors at Marywood University. At this school, you have professors that care about you and your education. I couldn’t have asked for a better college education and college experience.
Cody Reese '21
I am currently employed as an MES developer at Sanofi. Marywood’s faculty has given me the skills to succeed, and has instilled in me a great passion for my field. I hope to one day work on embedded systems for NASA.
Cody Dosch '21
Marywood has opened up so many opportunities for me personally and professionally. I’ve been able to develop skills across journalism mediums, network, and find a great group of friends.
Emma Rushworth '22
Marywood’s art program offers so many opportunities to the students. These opportunities include a variety of clubs to choose from, getting your work displayed in local galleries, trips to museums, and different options for going abroad. Professors and staff are very supportive of the students and the small ratio of students to professors gives each professor the capability to give individual critical feedback on students’ work as well as any help the student may need.
Meghan Welcyng '19
My experience at Marywood have been one of constant growth, maturity, knowledge, and success. There are many reasons why I love Marywood University. Marywood University enables me to practice my faith/religion of being a catholic all while obtaining a wide body of knowledge in nursing, philosophy and psychology. The professors are very knowledgeable and are always willing to go the extra mile to help students achieve their goals and reach their future. Marywood allows me to remain focus on my career path with much ease by providing me with a substantial scholarship and financial aid. Without the financial help my future would not look promising and bright.
Vonette Muir-Castelblanco '23
I feel like Marywood is not only preparing me for a career, but allowing me to have experiences that will be applicable to almost any path I take in life. The smaller scope of the school and familiarity from past experiences made me feel at home and allowed me to connect more with my professors and ask questions.
Ethan Verne '23
All four years my experience improved as I got to know the Marywood community better. It had its ups and downs throughout my journey but I would without a doubt do it again. I've learned so much being away from my parents and the life lessons I've learned will be with me in the future. I have learned so much from my professors and I'm confident that the information I've learned will help me in the future. I'm proud of the support the Marywood community has gave me to push through my journey in this University.
Joseph Monaghan '21
Your financial contribution to support my education means the world to me. To know that someone has my back to help me throughout my college adventure is something I am so grateful for. Your contribution will motivate me even more as I work to get into the PA graduate program here at Marywood University. Your help will not be in vain, as I will work hard and get to where I need to be in my college career. Thank you so much for your help!
Zachary Merlo '24
I have had a very unforgettable experience at Marywood. This school gave me the opportunity to enhance my academic knowledge while still being able to play two sports throughout my undergraduate career. The 3-2 Pre-PA program was a great way for me to jumpstart my future in something I was passionate about. Both the curriculum and the social atmosphere were unmatched. I made some many great friends and so many more amazing memories that I will take with me forever. When originally looking at this school, I was very happy with what it had to offer and I was even more pleased with how my college experienced turned out.
Cara Romaniello '22
I am currently in the Respiratory Therapy program and so far I am enjoying it! I really appreciate all the hard work everyone is doing here to keep us students safe during these difficult times. I am looking forward to the rest of my time here at Marywood!
Anna Samanas, '24
I wish I could go back to college, it was the best four years of my life. I still talk to many professors and friends that I met at Marywood and I'm grateful for how they prepared me for my career. Being a writer for The Wood Word as one of the most important experiences I've had at the university. Coming to Marywood was the best decision I ever made!
Esperanza Gutierrez '17
My classmates in all of my classes motivate me to be the best version of myself, and we all help each other in any way that we can to reach our goals. The atmosphere and community that is fostered at Marywood is unlike any other, and I cannot imagine myself anywhere else. Marywood truly is my home. I am beyond thankful for all of the incredible opportunities I have had and people I have met while here. I am deeply humbled that this scholarship affords me the chance to continue to live a life of service for God and others. If it were not for this award, I most likely would not be able to return to the workforce in a line of work that I could physically handle as a disabled person. This scholarship creates such a sense of hope that I can move forward on this path, and I look forward to giving back to the community as a result.
Sharra Walton '22
Criminal justice student, Robert, shares his experience and admiration for professors sharing real-world industry knowledge in the program that he believes will academically set him apart from applicants in an in demand career field.
Robert Seprish, Criminal Justice
Marywood became a home quickly. After this it become a life changing place where I could continue to explore who I am and what it is that I want my life to be about. I was gifted countless lessons, memories, and moments from dozens of mentors, professors, staff, and fellow students. This community gave me the safe space to transform into who I want to be.
Brien Luke McChesney '21
My experience as an English Literature Major at Marywood offered me a wide range of courses that not only met my graduation requirements but tailored to my specific interest in English education. I had the opportunity to not only explore my interests, but discover new passions in my discipline along the way that I’m now able to carry into my career as an English Teacher.
Shea Olszewski '21
I chose Marywood because of the welcoming atmosphere, and the relative small class sizes. I have many things I love about Marywood, but my ultimate favorite would have to be how inclusive of a campus it is despite its Catholic identity.
Adrianna Jones '20
From the first step I took on campus for a tour as a senior in high school the first thing that stood out to me was family. I felt a part of a family as soon as I came here and fell in love with the school. This is something that I will remember and have for the rest of my life. Marywood has gone beyond the expectations of a university and have brought me into a new family.
Adam Boussatta '21
Marywood is an all around amazing school. I chose Marywood because of the Physician Assistant program they offer. Now that I have been on campus for two years, it is much more than a program. It has given me many opportunities to grow my leadership skills and gain knowledge for the real world. Getting involved in various leadership roles on campus has really changed my experience at Marywood for the better!
Alexis Killino '21
I have loved the time I spent at Marywood! I double majored in Computer Science and Information Security with a minor in Mathematics. I was also heavily involved socially on campus, being the SGA President for two consecutive years, the Vice President of Alpha Sigma Psi, holding various positions in the Integrated Mathematics and Computer Science club, being an admissions ambassador, and a tutor at the math center. I learned a lot within my field during my four years, and that along with all the leadership experience I gained, prepared me to find a job within my field! I had multiple job offers several months before graduation, and I'm excited to stay in the area!
Alexis Palys '21
I chose to study Clinical Psychology here at Marywood because not only is the campus welcoming, but the Psychology department is immaculate. All my professors know me by first name due to the small class sizes and it feels good to have that personal connection with them. Whenever I have a question or concern, they are always there to help.
Alysha Smigiel '23
My favorite part about Marywood is that everyone is like a big family. The professors, students, and even coaches have become my second family. I like how close everyone is and how everyone is there for each other.
Hunter Vaughn '21
Nursing student, Hunter, shares her college and clinical experience at Marywood University.
Hunter Vaughn '21
I chose Marywood because I like the welcoming environment, and the small class sizes let me build connections with my professors. Stepping onto campus feels like home. I would like to thank the people who made this financial contribution possible from the bottom of my heart. I am very passionate about my future profession as a physician assistant. I am so close to serving my community as a PA.
Priya Patel '22
I cannot thank you enough for helping to fund my education. I am so grateful that your contribution to my education at Marywood will allow me to earn my degree and eventually become a teacher. This has always been my dream job, and I am so lucky to be given the opportunity to pursue this amazing career.
Amanda Sakulich '23
I chose Marywood because for its community and affordability. I would encourage international students to check out Marywood's scholarships and financial aid packages to see for themselves.
Bipasna Shakya '24
My Marywood experience has been very pleasurable. All the people who work lunch are really nice and have conversations with you. The workers from the library to the mail room give you a smile and a positive attitude. The campus is beautiful and even with covid there is always something to do!
Ryan Raffino '24
"Marywood isn't just a university, it's a launchpad for future healthcare leaders. The blend of rigorous academics, hands-on opportunities, and a supportive community provided the perfect foundation for my career in healthcare."
Amanda Karosus '12
Getting diagnosed with a chronic illness at the age of 13 has impacted my life in both negative and positive ways. While it has caused tears, money, time, and pain, it has also allowed me to find my passion in nutrition and helping other’s achieve their goals every day. Nutrition can be unintuitive or scary for some people, and I love having the job of being able to bridge the gap and empower others with their every day choices. Nutrition also has the ability to be used right alongside medical treatments or be the sole medical treatment in helping someone feel like their best self, and it is both a challenge and thrill to be able to guide someone through that journey. I cannot imagine studying any other subject and knowing that I will have a career of trials and victories every day.
Emily Hulse '19
My Marywood Experience made me a more independent and confident person. I am so thankful for Marywood helping come out of my shell and learn about myself.
Elizabeth Bonczek '23
"It was through the dynamic curriculum and dedicated professors of the PA program at Marywood that I was made ready to take on the challenges of and easily adapt to an ever changing, fast-paced career as a hospitalist PA."
Amanda Karosus '13
I really love my classmates. The Nutrition and Dietetics Department is a great place for community, friends and learning. We are a close nutrition family and I know I can rely on these friends for life because we all studied at MU. Outside of the nutrition department, I really love how beautiful and inviting our campus is. I also really love our many events SAC puts on for the students, there’s always fun things for us to do.
Katharine Tebbettes '18
To sum up my Marywood experience I would say it has consisted of new friends, adventures on and off campus, a supportive and exciting academic environment and a new family. So far, Marywood has given me the life experiences I didn't know I needed to become the independent woman I am today.
Ashlyn Jess '22
My favorite nutrition classes are Medical Nutrition Therapy I and II. These classes give you a greater sense of what it is going to be like working as a health care professional. Both classes are challenging and interesting, and truly helped me prepare for my future as a dietitian.
Alexa Dolce '18
Growing up, I was diagnosed with a fairly large amount of food allergies. Once I learned of my allergies it became a balancing act to maintain an adequate diet while managing to avoid my allergens. I chose Nutrition and Dietetics to perfect my ability to develop adequate diets no matter what the circumstances may be.
Elizabeth Jones '18
My Marywood experience was great! I was involved in as much as I possibly could be outside of the classrooms and it provided me experience that lead to a beginning a successful career. Within the (at the time) Communications Art Department, I held President of PRSSA & AAF, was a founding board member of Marywood Media Group (MMG), was editor-in-chief of the student news bulletin for the department, as well as helped on The Wood Ward and TV-Marywood. I loved my time on campus and all the growth it provided personally and educationally.
Kristen Hazen '17
You'll always stay connected to your roots and the people who gave you the opportunity to succeed.
Lindsey Gladden '20
Using all of the things I learned over my first 3 years at Marywood, I felt like a seasoned pro and was so grateful for the opportunity. Now that on camera appearances are becoming more and more regular, I've learned that you can only get better with practice, and that's just as true when playing sports. I've been able to share some ideas with many people in my time at Marywood and I'd like to think that I was able to help some people along the way. By using all of the tools that I learned in school and out in the field, I'm confident that I'll be able to fulfill my dream of becoming a baseball announcer. Thank you Marywood for helping me make that dream more and more possible every day.
Brendan Murphy '20
I think the program was well constructed, and I learned a lot. I would like to thank Marywood University for an amazing experience.
Samantha Huber '20
The small class size, hands on learning, and welcoming attitude I received from the nutrition department is what originally captured my attention. The nutrition department at Marywood is my second family and for that reason I thankful I made the decision to attend Marywood.
Katelin Graves '18
Adding a Spanish Major to my Biology Major was not easy but I was able to experience so many things! I was also able to study abroad in Valencia Spain at the Institute of Spanish Studies. I spent two months over the summer perfecting my Spanish and shadowing at a local hospital in Valencia which was all coordinated through the school. It was an amazing experience being able to shadow in so many different specialties in another country.
Krystine Jimenez '21
My time at Marywood is something I will never forget. The professors at the university taught me more than I could ever imagine about being an educator. I feel 100% confident to manage my own classroom because of the wonderful people that helped me along the way.
Bianca Gifford '21
My favorite thing about Marywood is the caring professors and the beautiful campus.
Anetta Pool '18
As I considered continuing my academic journey, the values of Marywood University and the PhD in Strategic Leadership and Administrative Studies program drew my attention. After visiting the campus, meeting the faculty, and attending the orientation weekend, I felt comfortable making the decision to enroll. While progressing through the program, the expertise of faculty in their respective disciplines exceeded my expectations and boosted my self-confidence as a graduate research student. And now, as I near the completion of the program, I look forward to presenting and defending my dissertation with the full support of faculty and committee members soon to be my colleagues.
Anthony M. Calafaty '21
Marywood empowers students, making sure they find their purpose. The hospitality major gave me a taste of my field early on, starting me in hospitality classes right away and helping me to realize that this career path was the perfect fit for me. The major requires two internships. I also studied abroad in London. All of these experiences gave me great confidence – about my chosen field, and myself. I’m so blessed to have that assurance. I get up each day and I love going to work.
Lia Sohl '19
One of my favorite nutrition classes would have to be Nutrition Through the Life Cycle. This class highlighted the aspects of nutrition that are important at each stage of life, which really was the start to learning that the role of nutrition is dynamic and that it changes as we do. "
Caroline Borne '18
My experience in the finance program at Marywood has been extensive at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. It has helped me to systematically identify ways to solve analytical problems. I have been exposed to real-world issues and have obtained methods to provide reliable solutions. The faculty in the program have given me means of personal growth, through their knowledge, connections, and understanding, to excel in my career wherever I end up working in the future.
Nathan Skrutski '20
Marywood has been amazing for me! After starting my collegiate career in Pittsburgh, I realized I wasn’t following my real passions in life. I came back home to find the perfect fit at Marywood in their flight program! Marywood’s staff and faculty are second to none and the smaller campus really allows that to shine, with each one of my professors showing a true desire to ensure we are all being given the best education possible. If being a pilot or working in the aviation industry has ever interested you, Marywood is the place to be!
Jake Arnold '21
My favorite thing would have to be the sense of community. It is what drew me to Marywood when I first stepped onto campus. I also enjoy that the sense of community can leave you be yourself and that there are always people there to support you.
Elizabeth Bednar '18
I've loved my time at Marywood more than I can possibly describe in words. Ever since I visited and on a tour in Spring 2019, I've been astounded not only by the beauty of the campus but also how kind and considerate the students were in comparison to at other colleges I'd been to. This latter aspect has to be my favorite thing about the university as a whole, that being how genuine everyone I've met here is. Even though my coursework is important, I'm most proud of the friendships I've made throughout my time here.
Richard Andrus '21
The M.S. in Higher Education Administration here at Marywood University is an amazing program. It is flexible and fully online, which made it possible for me to work while I attended grad school. All of the professors who taught in this program were helpful, willing to work with my often crazy schedule, and always there to listen. I always felt that I had a great support system while attending Marywood, and even though I was an entirely online student, I felt very much connected to my classmates as well as my professors.
Madison Cardinale '21
I love the sense of community that Marywood offers. The faculty and students I have encountered during my time here were extremely supportive and encouraging. The courses I took continually challenged me, giving me the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience needed to confidently work in my field.
Alexa Pavuk '20
I chose Marywood because of the community. Everyone actively works to make you feel like you belong there, no matter your background, and I can honestly say that it truly is a Marywood family.
Keilah Granito '24
I chose Marywood because, from the minute I stepped onto campus, I just felt so welcome and excited. The Marywood community is unmatched in its closeness, friendliness, and unity.
Madison Howell '22
I came to Marywood as a non-traditional student enrolled in their DPD and masters of nutrition program. My favorite thing about Marywood is how helpful and knowledgeable the faculty are, I always feel supported toward reaching my goals!
Elaine House '21
My entire Marywood Experience has been the most fulfilling years of my life. I get to wake up everyday, and pursue my goals. Professors, faculty and students are the kindest and most supportive people you will find yourselves around. From the moment I stepped on campus, I had felt like I had found home. Marywood truly has a one of a kind community that is unmatched. During my time at Marywood I have grown both personally and professionally and developed my skills to be applied to my future career path.
I wanted an environment that was supportive, and Marywood surpasses that in every way. This scholarship has benefited my life in so many ways. Financial aspects of college life can be extremely overwhelming, so I’m immensely grateful to people like you who show their support for Marywood students like me. Thank you!
Sarah Ounsworth '23
I chose nutrition because I have endured a debilitating eating disorder in my past. Going through recovery, I wanted to learn the correct way to nourish my body and mind. I thought, what would be a better way than studying nutrition? I have learned so much and want to help others just like myself overcome their struggles."
Meredith Yozwiak '18
My favorite thing about Marywood University is the atmosphere. The education is so much more personalized because of smaller class sizes. I love being able to say hi to almost everyone I walk past on campus! Marywood is such a close-knit community and I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Haleigh Zurek '18
I knew when applying that the Lehigh Valley MSW program offered a smaller learning community, and when I interviewed for the program, it just felt right in my gut! I feel like this program has opened my eyes to just how many places in society social workers are needed. My initial goal was just to become a better case manager, but with time, listening to my classmates’ experiences in different fields, and with my own experiences in field, I feel like my MSW degree can take me anywhere—from a large city hospital to a grassroots community advocacy organization, even into research!
Marywood's MSW degree program impacted my social work identity by ingraining in me that my social work identity and my personal identity really ought to be the same. In other words, in order to be a good social worker, you need to bring your whole, authentic self to the work. Integrating your personal and professional self—having sincere feelings and sharing genuine concern for others—is what makes social work such a unique and worthwhile career/life choice.
If you are considering on applying, Take the risk! Reach out! You’ll never know if something is for you without talking to someone who is in the weeds, as it were. Besides, no one will die if you reach out and then find out it’s not for you. I think you only have to gain by learning more. And heck, you may end up with a new career, a new community, and an invigorated sense of how you can be a person for others! But I’m bias...
Thomas McDevitt '24
My best advice for a student coming to Marywood, no matter what major, would be to get involved in the community as much as they can. Even though Marywood is small, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved with clubs, sororities, volunteering, sports, etc. No matter where you go, college is what you make it to be and you can make it whatever experience you want as long as you are willing to try.
Cassandra Stockwell '18
I want to say from the bottom of my heart, thank you! This scholarship means the world to me. Without your financial contributions, I don’t think I would be able to attend Marywood due to the extra financial burden. The thing I really enjoy about the Marywood community is the overall helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. I have liked and respected all my professors and am so grateful to them. I would not be able to succeed without the support and guidance, and I can’t imagine being anywhere else. Again, the biggest thank you I can give for helping make my dreams a reality.
Richard Freer '23
“You are the ones that are enabling positive change,” she announced to the benefactors, faculty, staff, and students at the Scholarship Luncheon, “the ones who believe in the brightest future for individuals like me, who through Marywood work diligently to do good and give back.”
I am currently working as an Internet Marketing Strategist at WebFX. Here I am in charge of coming up with and implementing strategies for search engine optimization and client pay-per-click campaigns through the use of data analytics. My education from Marywood University provided me with my foundational logic and problem solving skills that I can always lean back on.
Heather Kwolek '21
The "Get Your Master’s with the Masters" program is ideal for working designers, illustrators and educators who want to complete a professional degree. It allows you to discover and follow your unique path, and is invaluable as a means of developing a network of people working at the top of their craft. I have witnessed how this program has transformed the people in it, and how many of us have reached or exceeded our professional and personal goals as a result of the experience.
Caren Schlossberg-Wood '19
My favorite class was sports nutrition. I really enjoyed the class because I got to learn more about how the body uses its energy for exercise, recommendations for athletes, and how RDs have a role in the sports world. I want to be a sports dietitian, so its suiting that I really liked this class.
Emily Tills '18
I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because of the intimate, nurturing, learning environment that initially appealed to me. The incredible teachers that allow and encourage you to explore your own creativity your own unique way while supplying you with the lessons that will improve your skills as an artist in order for you to execute your vision more accurately. And above all, the enormous amount of talented classmates that will inspire you to no end!
Nate Holden '21
Marywood has been an excellent experience. The professors are well-informed and really friendly. They know every student and care about how students do in their class. The small class sizes really allow students to form a personal connection with their professors.
Karamvir Singh '21
While at Marywood, I had fulfilling experiences across the board, from the education I received, to the peers I met, to the life long friendships I made, and to the perspective I gained about the world around me. The most rewarding part of my education at Marywood was my acceptance into the Honors Program. I was able to take some unique and incredible classes that expanded my mind and allowed me to think differently about the world around me. I was also able to do a deep dive into one of my favorite novels, "The Handmaid's Tale" by examining it through political and historical lenses for my Honors Thesis. I learned so much about not only the world I live in, but also myself, and am grateful for that knowledge each and every day.
Sydney Toy '20
As I approach graduation with a MSW degree, I am thankful to Marywood University for preparing me with a strong ethical foundation for practice and a strong community that allowed me to connect with educators and students to further my education and form life-long memories. As I prepare to begin my career in child and adolescent therapy, I reflect back upon all the interesting and engaging courses I completed with highly-qualified instructors, and I feel ready to embark upon the next stage of my career with invaluable knowledge and insights.
Jenni Higgins '21
From providing field experience starting freshman year, numerous student-run clubs and organizations, plentiful volunteer hours, classes that focus on real-life classroom approaches, Marywood University's Education Department has prepared me to become the best possible teacher I can be.
Taylor Yacuboski '21
Without getting this scholarship there is no doubt I would not be in college. I’m a first-generation college student, and I really didn’t know what to expect coming to college. At Marywood, I found more than just an education; I donut a community. The people are really what makes Marywood amazing. We have such an amazing and diverse community of students who are some of the kindest, most welcoming people I’ve met in my life. I have absolutely loved every second at Marywood, from the first day I stepped on campus to today, and I am beyond grateful for this experience.
Caleb Bakalyar '23
I was apprehensive as to the quality of my education online. However, Marywood was organized and thorough in their planning and communication with students. Our classes felt just like in-person. The faculty are wonderful, down to earth, and truly want the best for students. Differing teaching styles ensure a well-rounded learning experience. I've grown close to many students despite only knowing them online and I look forward to my time on campus. Marywood has a wonderful reputation and now having been in the program for over a year, I can see why.
Michelle DiBella '22
My favorite thing about Marywood is that there are so many ways to get involved on campus, which has been the best way for me to connect with my professors and peers as a commuter student. Becoming a part of Marywood Activities Council, Student Government Association, and Psi Chi has helped me to come out of my shell and to develop valuable leadership skills, which I am not sure I would have gained anywhere else. There is a welcoming face almost everywhere you look at Marywood, ready to help you make connections!
Elizabeth Buczek '23
I chose to study Multimedia Communication because I love capturing moments and sharing those moments with those who love the topic or just love to be creative just as much as me. At Marywood, I loved having creative freedom and learning how to better my work. Being in the Multi Comm department has help me grow, not only as a student and an editor, but also as a person. I met so many amazing people here that I miss so much! I knew when I graduated in May 2021 I was ready to grow more in my career and I have my department to thank for that. Whenever I had a question or needed help they were always there to help and without them I wouldn't be where i am as an editor and videographer. They were crucial in imparting the overall knowledge of what my career path has to offer.
Emily Scholl '21
From the day I stepped on campus, I instantly felt welcomed by the Marywood community. Marywood has prepared me for the future right from the moment I started their Nursing program. I believe that Marywood has created a strong foundation of knowledge in order for me to excel within the nursing profession. I am grateful for the opportunities Marywood has provided me as a student, and I cannot thank the University enough for that.
Paige Barillo '23
When I stepped on the campus, I felt at home. The music therapy program is amazing here but it is only one of the many reasons why I chose Marywood.
Elisa Kovacs '23
Becoming a Marywood student has been such a positive experience from the start. I was able to get involved and make so many connections throughout campus! My professors in and out of the education department have been so supportive and always willing to help out when needed. I cannot wait to see you hat else Marywood has to offer
Ann Marie McGrogan '24
I always felt like I belonged at Marywood University --- it’s one of very few places where I always feel not just welcome, but truly valued for the person that I am. It’s an atmosphere of warmth and kindness that I cant imagine my college experience without, but what really sets Marywood apart is the teachers. All of my professors pushed me to improve, and I am eternally thankful for the compassion and encouragement they gave me in times where I struggled to believe in myself. I worked hard and improved both as a student and an individual, and I couldn’t have done it without their support. I know that no matter where life takes me, Marywood has given me the tools to achieve whatever I set my mind to.
Noah Cogliette '21
I now have a much better understanding of MNT (medical nutrition therapy) and how to apply it as well. I plan to utilize this acquired knowledge and definitely apply it to not only preparing for the RD exam but throughout my future career.... I am EXTREMELY satisfied with this learning experience and program!
Nicole Lignos '20
I chose Marywood because this university respects all humans, no matter their religion, race, ethnicity, or beliefs. I am incredibly thankful for your generous contribution to support my education at Marywood University. This scholarship has eased many of my financial burdens and has allowed me to completely dedicate my attention to my education. I am grateful and humbled to have been chosen as a recipient of the Dr. Fergus T. Monahan School of Social Work Scholarship.
Analy Tejeda
Right off the bat, Marywood began sending me to school districts in order to get first-hand experience in my field. I completed a 5 year program and received both my Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree at Marywood. Within that time, I also completed field work as a student observer and teacher at more than 6 different schools. I felt well prepared for my career and future. The classes I took were engaging, and the professors I had were inspiring and motivating.

Joshua Mecca, graduate assistant, presents his research of “Ocean Acidification and How It Affects Algae Strains Due to Global Warming”.
Under the guidance of Dr. Robin Ertl, Joshua demonstrated how algae samples changed based on the pH level of the water. After recording changes in the soil levels and testing isolated enzymes, Joshua concluded that the lower pH levels did have a negative effect on the algae strands.
Joshua Mecca, graduate assistant
Marywood is a much smaller school, so you felt like you really knew all of your professors and that they were there to help you, which was especially important when preparing for the LSATs. Plus, the smaller class sizes not only helped me to be more competitive when applying to law school, but it made me much more competitive, because I had friends pushing me to do my best.
Katie Engles '15
I really love that Marywood's Master's with the Masters allows you to travel and encourages you try new things and experiment. This out of the box thinking allows for much better thinking on your feet when clients come calling. My favorite spot on campus so far has been the "Tree House" art studio. The room is so spacious and bright.
Morgan Keyser '21
I’ve had a great experience at Marywood, the professors are great and it feels like a family atmosphere.
Yousf Almoumin '20
I would like to thank all Marywood team, donors administrative staff, and well-wishers for all supports and continued assistance all these hard years. I would come all all these way without the support of above great hearts.
Narad Pokhrel '22
At Marywood, I wrote articles for the paper. I was involved with the TV station, producing shows and working in the control room. I interned at E! News and The Rachel Maddow Show. After all these experiences, I just knew I wanted to work in broadcast journalism. Marywood encourages you to get involved in as many opportunities as possible. They want you to pursue your interests – to whatever level you want. At other schools, you might have to fight to get noticed and acquire those kinds of experiences.
Rachel Looker '18
Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. While I was, and continue to be, an extrovert, I appreciate my own personal time, so I went in with an open mind. Through the experience of serving as an RA at Marywood, I learned the value of my personal time and learned to appreciate it more.
Joseph Pechulis '24
I am neither an alumna of Marywood nor a native of the surrounding community. Throughout the years, before becoming a Trustee of the University, I have observed and admired Marywood from the outside as it continually redefines itself in an ever-changing educational landscape while being unwaveringly true to its mission. I am proud to sit on a Board that is forward-looking. Marywood itself is empowered by its ability to adapt and go forward. Whether you are on the Board, a student, a faculty member, or an administrator, you are part of a dynamic community, an empowering feeling you sense the moment you step on campus.
Susan Cognetti
An admissions counselor was visiting our high school. I was specifically looking for colleges with art majors, and Marywood happened to be visiting on a day that I was choosing which colleges to explore. I quickly realized that Marywood not only had the major that I was interested in, but it had a nature vibe, as well as the classes that I wanted to have and the things that I wanted to be surrounded by.
Leagen Wallace '24
What originally drew me to Marywood was the baseball program, and after coming on a visit and being blown away by the campus, I knew I had found the right school. The biggest thing that stands out to me since transferring here is the welcoming environment Marywood has to offer. I am very excited about what else Marywood has to offer me, and I can truly say that I am proud to be a part of the Marywood family.
James Daly '24
One of the main reason I chose to go to Marywood is the biotechnology masters program. Biotechnology is such a wide field and it gives you the opportunity to go in many different directions with it career wise. Once at Marywood all of my professors were very personable and wanted the best out of each of their students. Going to Marywood and getting my Masters in biotechnology led me to where I am today, working at a vaccine research and development company. I never thought I would be able to get a job like this, but with the knowledge I learned from Marywood I was!

Robert S. Tamburro
I chose Marywood because of the programs and facilities that it offered me and the location of the school. Marywood’s experience provided me with a lifetime of friendships and a great education and I’ll never forget my four incredible years here.
Rebecca Fields '20
Marywood contributes to society well-educated individuals who will be leaders in our communities and world. I feel that my gifts to Marywood have supported the educational experience, empowering students to embrace future societal and personal demands and effecting positive change.
Col. (Ret.) Lorraine T. Rupp Breen, 1978
First of all I would like to Thank Dr. Dawoody for regular encouragement to enroll in the program. Dr. Dawoody is one of the best professor at Marywood University. Likewise, I would like to thank all my professors especially Dr. A. Levine, Dr. L. Palmiter, Dr. Paciej- Woodruff, Dr. Lucas, Y: Dr. Caputo, and many more.
Narad Pokhrel '22
I wanted to give back to the community of Marywood University. I dreamed of being a role model and a part of the support system of the residents the same way my Resident Assistant was to me during my freshman year of college.
Esmeralda Bautista '22
The program that Marywood offers for the transition from LPN to RN provides you the opportunity to take your passion for nursing to the next level.
Michelle Lewis, LPN
I chose Marywood because it felt like home. You can always find a friendly face when walking around campus. The small class sizes allow students to really bond with each other and our professors. The professors in the math and computer science department are so motivating and understanding. They have definitely challenged me at times, but I learned so much because of it.
Jesse Doyle '21
I chose Marywood to study Athletic Training because of the ability to work with current Athletic Trainers in class. It also gives me the ability to work hands-on and in a small class setting. Studying at Marywood also gives me the ability to work in clinical sites in the area at different high schools and universities to further my knowledge and ability in Athletic Training.
My favorite thing about Marywood is that everyone is willing to help each other out. I also really enjoy the different activities that are always put on by the Student Activities Council.
Keran Scanlan '23
I chose Marywood University because of the excellent Education program. It is held to the highest standard and has a reputation of excellence for all of the right reasons. I love having smaller class sizes, because it allows me to connect on a deeper, more meaningful level with all of my professors and classmates. I have met some of my best friends through my classes and met professors that have shaped me into the person and student that I am today. The faculty within the Education department inspire me to dream big, work hard, and put my all into everything that I do. They are phenomenal role models who have influenced my life in countless positive ways. I am extremely thankful to have these relationships.
Ashley Kempa '22
Marywood has brought me so many wonderful experiences throughout my 4 years of attendance. The architecture program helped guide me into the career I always dreamt of pursuing. It taught me lifelong skills and brought me lifelong friends. The importance of collaboration and attention to detail has helped me tremendously in the working world. I came into college unsure of what the future held for me, and left excited and equipped for everything the world had to throw at me. Marywood has given me so much to be thankful for and looking back, I couldn't have imagined myself anywhere else.
Kyle Colucci, BEDA 2021
My experience entering Marywood certainly wasn't conventional, but I'm glad to finally be exploring the many appeals of the campus. Initially I had wanted to explore the recording studios on campus, but my interests have shifted away from voice acting in the past year. I want to explore the different writing tracts at Marywood and my goal is to be a fantasy author.
Dylan Campbell '23
I fell in love with the campus, and I told my father that this is the place I needed to be—I need to attend Marywood University. I also love the fact that I’m close enough to go home if needed, but far enough away from home that there are no surprise visits. Follow your heart and what your passion is telling you to do. Be someplace where you’re happy. At Marywood, I am fortunate to grow at a University where the professors care about my progress and what I’m interested in pursuing.
Aryana Smith '23
Through the strong community created by the university, I got to know and build connections with many of my fellow students and professors which helped me to confirm that this was right where I was supposed to be. When transferring, I knew that getting involved was something I was looking forward to, which led me to working in the lab as a lab assistant. Through taking advantage of the many opportunities that Marywood has provided, I feel as though I am ready and well equipped to move on to the next chapter of my life.
Emily Haley '22
The job of working in athletics came naturally for me. I wanted to pursue a field where the work I did would be meaningful to others for the long term. Becoming a physician assistant is what I want out of my life. And, while the thoughts of quitting have crossed my mind, I stuck it out, and continue to strive for my goal. I concentrated all my efforts on digging deep and making that decision to pursue a physician assistant degree. Being at Marywood is a good decision. I can’t imagine getting through this pursuit without Dr. Palmiter’s guidance. I’m glad to have her as a resource.
Maleena Reid '23
As a transfer student, I had no idea what I was walking into, but everyone in my program was super supportive and helped me get where I am now. I can recall some moments that definitely tested my ability to overcome obstacles, but I can also say I will miss those challenges that shaped me into an educated and marketable individual pursuing a long road filled with successes and failures, but most importantly, positive growth. Thank you, Marywood.
Fernando Obando '20
Marywood has been such a blessing to me. The professors get to know you. I went to a public university before coming here, and the difference is shocking. The professors, especially in the Nutrition Department, know your name and get to know you as a whole person - not just a student. I love studying Nutrition because food and overall health of your body defines your living for the rest of your life. I also love empowering people to be the very best version of themselves.
Erikah Groninger '22
My Marywood education continues to guide me towards my future career as an RDN with many opportunities, such as creating and leading Friday Food for Kids, where members of SAND and I bring snack bags to inner city elementary school and middle school students on the weekends, and through countless shadowing supervised practice opportunities.
Annie Heyen '21
The Marywood University Lehigh Valley MSW Program has affected my educational growth in many ways. Marywood has given me the foundation of leadership, advocacy, and fulfillment. I am confident in my skill set and aim to mold my social work identify inreflection of the programs values and core competencies.
When I first entered the program, I always wanted to pursue a career in geriatrics. Throughout my field placements, I have found that you can implement your skill set within any population. My end goal is to work in the Palliative Care Department while working towards my LCSW with a focus in end of life care and bereavement therapy. Down the road, I hope to establish an art based therapy program for clients with end of life diagnoses.
If you are considering applying to the Marywood Lehigh Valley MSW Program - do it. My biggest piece of advice is to step outside of your comfort zone. As many of my mentors have told me, if you are comfortable - then there is still work that needs to be done!
Kaitlyn Brown '23
I transferred to Marywood in fall 2020 and here I discovered my passion for education and student engagement with the help of the Career Development Center. I am currently a senior Early Childhood and Elementary Education/ Special Education major and plan to pursue a masters in Higher Education Administration. Marywood’s welcoming and supportive community has given me the opportunity to pursue my interests and become my best self.
Hadley Gilbert '23
“There is not enough thanks I could say to all the Marywood donors. With the tremendous and outstanding donations, you are the ones who make it possible for students like me to become successful. You help make our dreams come true. Many of us would not be here if not for your generous gifts."
Marywood has opened my mind to be a more critical thinker and to view life through the lens of others, not just my own. I have learned how to read and conduct research, which, to be honest, was not something I would have ever attempted for myself had I not been pushed to do so. My largest growth area is that I can affect change on many levels. Moving forward, I now have a larger tool kit to pull from to effect change on multiple levels, and I will put these skills to use in every aspect of my life.
My initial goal was to expand my knowledge to become a better child welfare worker. However, the MSW program has profoundly impacted my social work identity by opening my mind to multiple points of view. The world and people are diverse, and part of my growth was taking the time to view my faults and biases and learning how that can play a crucial role in shaping how I work with clients. Now that I have a clearer picture of myself, I can better work with any population.
Anthony Lupo '23
Gwendolyn Phoebe Murray '21
If given a chance to thank the thousands of donors at Marywood, I would start by letting them know what an honor it is to meet them in person as I shake their hands. Then I would express my gratitude by thanking each and everyone of them from the bottom of my heart for the opportunity which they have given to myself and all the other students here at Marywood to follow our career paths. Because of their great generosity students like me have a real chance to a bright and successful future. This is a gift that is priceless, everlasting, and shines bright like the sun over the earth.
Vonette Muir-Castelblano '23
The Marywood Lehigh program has affected my educational growth in a powerful way. My classes so far have challenged me to think outside of the box and work with my peers. It is through this work that I am motivated to think differently and question my preconceived notions and assumptions. I will carry this open-mindedness into my social work career. Motivating because I feel invigorated by my peers and professors; inviting because, since the beginning, I have felt like I belonged here; and finally understanding, as all my peers and professors have been relatable and personable.
Jade Shomper '24
Over the past six years as I have become reacquainted with Marywood, I have been most impressed with the University's capacity for change. It is impressive to see the way its purpose has been expanded from being primarily a classical liberal arts college to become a university with liberal arts at the core but with an increasing array of high-quality professional education opportunities; programs that better fit students to current employment opportunities.
Bernadette Gray-Little, 1966, Ph.D.
I had heard good things about Marywood's MSW program and it was close to where I'm living. My end goal hasn't really changed in getting my LCSW and working as a counselor, but I have gained a better understanding of what I need to do to reach that goal, thanks to this program.
Patrick Holt '23
As an older student, I was impressed with the welcoming nature of all involved in my degree pursuit. From the guidance I received with my initial course, to the encouragement to be creative with all of my course work, I could not have had a more satisfying educational experience. If you could believe it, I was actually disappointed when I completed the program! Marywood University is an exceptional school with great atmosphere. I would encourage any prospective student to seriously consider Marywood as their school choice.
David Bulzoni '21
After attending a couple of universities I am so glad I chose Marywood because of the quality of education is outstanding and my professors are extremely knowledgeable, personable, and assiduous!
Matthew Goodrich '23
I owe much of my success to the invaluable experiences and education I received at Marywood. The University played a pivotal role in shaping my journey, and I am honored to give back through the EMPOWER campaign. Supporting the campaign is my way of ensuring that current and future students have the same opportunities for growth and empowerment that I was fortunate to receive. Marywood instilled in me a sense of purpose, and as a donor, I am committed to being a catalyst for positive change in the lives of students who aspire to reach their fullest potential.
Michael E. Bugno, 1998
I am extremely lucky to have the greatest college experience to think of. Ever since I stepped foot on Marywood's campus my junior year of high school I knew this would be my home. After being at Marywood for almost three years now, I have grown to be the best version of me. I have met the best people to call my best friends, amazing professors who make for a great support system, teammates on the women's soccer team to be my family and through the various clubs and activities I have joined, I have learned to find the leader inside of me. I am so fortunate to have had such a great experience thus far and I'm looking forward to the many memories I get to create in the remainder of my time as a Marywood Student!
Taylor Yacuboski '21
I applied to Marywood because of the branch locations offered, its affordability, and the opportunities to participate in different field experiences to enhance my skill-based knowledge. When I first started at Marywood, I knew I would like to work with children, but I did not know what I specifically wanted to do. Marywood has given me the chance to learn about school social work.
The Marywood Lehigh Valley MSW program has helped me grow so much; education and confidence wise. I went in feeling unsure of my abilities but left feeling like a true social worker where I can empower others because I have felt empowered by the faculty and students at the Lehigh Valley location.
Marybeth Lumis '23
I chose Marywood because of their 5-year speech-language pathology program. I enjoy working one on one with clients and learning how to apply the feedback I receive from supervisors. I think Marywood was a great choice for my desired career path as I am given countless opportunity to grow and learn how to become a great SLP!
Sneha Varughese '21
I choose Marywood University mostly because of the staff and the small, friendly community. Everyone at Marywood is extremely friendly and helpful. The professors are very helpful and create a great learning community.
Julia Antoniacci '22
Marywood has fostered a program that has helped me to become an effective self directed learner. The success really stems off from being a distance student. Although it was challenging at times, I can say the end results was rewarding. I have grown in developing skills within self motivation and independence. Being a distance student most of the work is done independently within my own time frame. Time management is key into getting the projects I need to get done along with managing and obtaining the hours I need to effectively complete my internship responsibilities. Through this experience I have built a network for myself within the community I live in that will help further my career and professional endeavors. The Masters and Dietetic Internship Program has allowed for me to gain the experience needed within obtaining dietetic credited internship hours along with a masters degree at hand. More so, this program experience has made me more equipped and confident to take on the role as an entry level dietitian.
Brandi Kam '23
When I first started Marywood, I was an unconventional student. I was older, a veteran and a single mother. Everyone from the President down to the staff always welcomed not just me but also that my baby. There were times I had to bring her to classes with me and my professors were so amazing! The fact that Marywood had a daycare on campus was a huge selling point to me. I could not have done this without your help! Thank you Marywood.
Amber Viola '20
The Biotechnology program requires students to take not only science courses but also business courses. These courses have allowed me to enhance my ability to critically solve problems and approach these problems with an open mind. I know this field is right for me. I look forward to the many opportunities that Marywood University’s Master of Science (MS) in Biotechnology program has allowed me to pursue.
Lilli Foote '21
Marywood and its profound courses have given me a chance to explore many areas of learning in my life. I have already made many friends and started networking which will be beneficial to me for a lifetime. The best thing about Marywood in my perspective would be the faculty members, the professors are very kind to us and helpful in any way possible.
Adnan Shaikh '22
This program has given me extraordinary experiences both academically and clinically. Many interesting and in-depth classes are offered and we have an incredible on-campus clinic where I was given the experience to observe and work in. The professors and supervisors are extremely knowledgeable and passionate, and have pushed me to become independent and competent in so many ways. My love and appreciation for this filed grows each day due to the countless, amazing experiences I continue to have here at Marywood.
Gwendolyn Maginnis '21
During my first week at Marywood, I auditioned for the main stage production and was cast. I also lectured at mass on that Sunday right after move-in. I got involved right away and ever since I have loved it. I am also the vice president of the Marywood Players, so I was able to direct a production. Marywood just has something for everyone, and I love it there. It is truly my home away from home, and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
Angela Klawiter '23
I chose Marywood to study Speech Pathology because I felt that the program was very student oriented and personal. I also had a lot of fun and made great friends along the way!
Katie Dearborn '21
I have been so fortunate to travel the country and even the world with the Marywood bands. My musicianship has skyrocketed and my leadership and social skills have blossomed. I could not be more thrilled to begin to put all the education Marywood has provided me with to good use. I am eager to begin educating children through music, and give them what Marywood has given to me!
Harlow Alexander '19
Marissa is a DPD senior here at Marywood. "I chose to become a part of Marywood University for their accredited Nutrition and Dietetics program. This program has given me the opportunity to grow as an individual and excel in the ever-changing field of Nutrition and Dietetics. The first major interest I had for nutrition was knowing that I wanted to help save lives in an indirect way. When choosing my career, I knew that I would excel in a position as an RDN. Helping patients and clients work towards their goals, and seeing nutritional improvements, while becoming successful is very rewarding to me as a soon to be dietitian."
Marissa Bolsar '18
Thank you so much for supporting my education at Marywood. Your support truly enables me to accomplish my dreams of becoming a Speech-Language Pathologist and helping others for the rest of my life. I am so blessed that, because of this scholarship, I am attending a school that cares about my success, encourages me to become a leader, and gives me numerous opportunities to serve those in need throughout the community. Words cannot describe how thankful I am for you and your amazing support!
Kelly Moreno '23
My experience has felt like I am living with my family. The people on campus are so welcoming and always able to answer my questions. Like a real family there are times when there are rough waters and conflicts, but in the end there is always a solution to the problem as long as we all work together. It takes an army to create change, and while Marywood isn't a huge school, we are as loud as an army ten times our size.
Mary Pegarella '24
Small classes mean you have more interaction with the students and professors. Also, you will be able to concentrate more on the information, including discussions, lectures, and presentations.
Lujing Zhou '12
I chose Marywood not just for my major but also because it was so close to home! When I came on campus I felt comfortable and welcomed. Everyone at Marywood is so friendly and always willing to lend a helping hand. Marywood has definitely prepared me for my career, the professors are so kind and they treat you like family.
Savannah Gonzalez '24
The teachers stood out to me at Marywood. Meeting with Sophie Till, associate professor of violin and viola, was the deciding factor in choosing Marywood. Faculty absolutely play a key role in the final decision process. I love seeing students being more confident in their abilities. When students are able to walk away, and they’re able to do something new—that’s what it’s all about. I was shy and introverted before coming to Marywood, but as a result of my experiences and knowledge gained here, I have definitely come out of my shell.
Emily Felker '21
I have had an absolute BLAST at Marywood and really do not want to leave. I have learned more than I ever would have thought and had expereinces I never even would've dreamed of having and I am so grateful for everyone I have met and everything I have learned!
Ellen Frantz '23
There are not enough words to explain the gratitude I have for those who have helped make a financial contribution to support my education here at Marywood. Your support keeps me striving to follow through and be the best teacher I can be. It also makes me want to teach my future students the importance of helping others. If it wasn’t for those of you who made a contribution, I most likely would have given up on my dreams, and I am just so, so, so, thankful! THANK YOU!
Paige Gill '23
Faculty provided me with more guidance and assistance than I could've asked for. I never felt like I was alone or didn't have help if I needed it. I would choose this program over again if I had to choose.
Emily Hellam '20
We have great professors at Marywood that want us to succeed. It’s great to be able to ask questions without the fear of being judged. My professors and coordinators eased my worries letting me know that there is no judgment.
Nathan Mills '20
Through my time here at Marywood, I was provided with many opportunities and got to meet the most amazing people. I was thrown challenges that I didn't know I needed to learn in order to further my academic career. This university has allowed me to grow beyond my communication department knowledge. Because of Marywood, I am the person I am today.
Nevica Molinaro '23
I am pleased with my overall experience at Marywood University, as a proud Graduate Student of Criminal Justice. I have taken various courses at Marywood, including courses with a crime concentration and Art Therapy courses with post-trauma components, which has provided an abundance of takeaways as essential components in the learning process. I have enjoyed my academic experience and student life. I am thankful to have received recognition from Marywood University for academic excellence and my dedication and hard work as a student here. The Marywood experience has taught me, not only to do well working independently and to self-propel, yet also, nevertheless, a stronger sense of power in faith based unity through challenge! Marywood University has been a driving force in the path to success, having been an honor to attend. Thank you, Marywood!
Jessica Vance '21
I work at Coconino High School in the Flagstaff Unified School District. I'm the band and orchestra director. I also teach percussion, guitar, and AP music theory. I'm super excited to get to know all of my students and build a strong connection with them. And I am so excited to build the music program up! One thing that being at Marywood taught me is the importance of building connections and networking. Most of my connections are in Pennsylvania, but being open to building connections across the country was something that I don't think I could have done without the help of my experiences and professors at Marywood.
Karen Whitaker '21
Marywoods Respiratory Therapy program allowed me to complete my Bachelors in Science and pursue my dream of helping others one breath at a time. The professors I am with on a daily basis make it their #1 goal to prepare us for boards and help us succeed in our future healthcare career.
Natalia Lic '24
I am so fortunate to have a scholarship! Going to a school out of state can be expensive. There were no colleges in my state that offered Music Therapy. Because of this scholarship, I am able to pursue my dream of becoming a Music Therapist! I feel beyond blessed to be so close to being a certified MT-BC!
Katelyn Vanlanen '22
Marywood was an amazing experience and great preparation for my future. Involving myself in multiple clubs across campus helped me evolve and meet people whom I have created lifelong friendships. Forever thankful for what Marywood has given me!
Samantha Compton '21
I chose the Respiratory Therapy program here at Marywood because Respiratory Care is a growing healthcare field providing a rewarding professional work environment, opportunities for continued learning, and the satisfaction of knowing that you have made a difference in the lives of those you have cared for. Marywood has prepared me for my career because I've been taught life skills such as time management, passion, and ambition to be the best version of myself.
Brooke McKay '23
I’m always so appreciative of the community at Marywood. I don’t live close enough to go home until the end of the semester, but Marywood has truly become my home away from home. The friends I’ve made in my almost three semesters here have become my second family, and their endless support of me and my endeavors is reflective of the overall Marywood community. Thank you so much for your support of my education! Receiving this scholarship means that I can continue to focus on my studies and gives me a greater sense of security in purchasing materials and programs for all of my projects - and allows me to be a part of this amazing community!
Hailey Gaines '24
I really enjoyed earning my Master's degree in Reading Education at Marywood University through the online program. I was able to take classes online while still working full time as a substitute teacher. My professors were extremely helpful, especially during the pandemic and were always very responsive. Although I did not spend much time on the Marywood campus, their online community made my experience as a graduate student meaningful. This program has prepared me for my career as a teacher and helped me land my first job as an educator.
Olivia Bartkowski '20
I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because everyone wants to see you thrive. The staff and professors are so passionate about their work and genuinely want you to cultivate that same passion into your work! College is such an exciting time so having people that are encouraging you and are as excited as you are is so pivotal to the learning experience.
Ivy D'Agostino '23
I love being at Marywood especially with my major respiratory therapy. The professors are compassionate and always willing to help!
Alyssa Bollard '24
My experience at Marywood has been amazing. I love the friendliness of the faculty and I have met such great friends here.

Emmalee Williams '21
Marywood’s Art Therapy program has been an awesome experience to be apart of so far! I chose this program because it’s ranked one of the best in the country. I believe that I will be prepared to take on being a full time art therapist by the time my grad year comes to an end. Being in this program has shown me that I definitely chose the right major for myself. The professors and classes have taught me so much already and I can’t wait to learn more as I become an upperclassman and in the years to come afterwards!
Madison Solano '23
The director made me feel welcomed and also helped me to realize how much Marywood cares for each of their interns. I could not imagine being a part of any other program. As a distance intern, I’ve met so many great people in this program and I’ve had some of the most amazing professors. Marywood’s distance track has also allowed me to have a flexible schedule. I am able to work, create my own schedule, and choose my own locations for my rotations.
Jordan Davis '21
My experience at Marywood has changed my life for the better in ways that I can't even begin to describe!
Matt Catanzaro '20
In my transition from LPN to BSN, Marywood has afforded me an amazing and rewarding opportunity to further my education while making my career goals achievable.
Holly Hughes '23
As I stood in the back of the auditorium and listened to Sister Mary’s address to the incoming class my freshman year, she said something that immediately spoke to me. 'There’s a reason that you all are here. You were destined to be here. You looked at us, we looked at you, and we connected. You are physically meant to be here.' I still remember the “immediate chills” I got that day... that moment was when I knew I made the right decision coming to Marywood.
Brandon Morley '19
Marywood has truly changed my life.
I came in with little direction and little confidence and by getting involved with the Office of Student Engagement and the Cross Country and Track and Field teams, I was really able to find my purpose and grow into an extremely confident and capable individual. Marywood allowed me to do everything I wanted to do, from Student Government Association to Chamber Singers to even serving as Summer Orientation Co-Chair, and I couldn’t be more grateful!
Madison Howell '24
Marywood was so great in helping me get on the right track for my career. When I first came to college, I knew I wanted to study both graphic design and advertising so I was prepared to do anything in that field. My professors and advisors worked with me to come up with a personalized track to best fit my needs. I was able to take graphic design and communications courses that best fit what I wanted to do in my career. Now, I have the knowledge I need, along with connections with the amazing professors that have helped and supported me since day one. I'm so thankful that I had the opportunity to do this at Marywood.

As an aspiring Physician Assistant, my education empowers me to make sure my patients’ voices are heard and to ensure that they are never treated like just a number throughout diagnosis and treatment.
"The education I received from Marywood has helped prepare me for my career as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. The MSW program was a perfect fit for me because it was close to home and gave me the freedom to be able to work and earn my degree."
Krista Cox '12
Marywood’s Psy.D. program was my core foundation in becoming a clinical psychologist. The courses, mentorship from faculty, and externship experiences allowed me to develop comprehensive clinical skills and strong ethical principles as a clinician. The program provided a collegial and supportive learning environment. The faculty genuinely cared about all students and took the time to help each student grow professionally as well as interpersonally.
It was through Marywood’s Psy.D. program that I have been successful in working in a number of different environments including hospitals, outpatient mental health clinics, private practice, and industry/mental health tech.
I could not be more appreciative for my time in the program and the lessons I learned.
Michael Arevalo '18
My Marywood experience has been incredible. I knew from the first time I stepped on this campus that I was in a community of people that I already loved, I just needed to meet them all! I have met some of the most important people in my life here, and learned the most important lessons. I learned about living on my own, about independence, and about being myself 24/7. I learned how to speak and listen to God. I learned how to love and to be loved by people who really saw me.
Emily Bubel '22
The Psy.D. program provided a strong foundation for me in developing my clinical skills that would apply in any number of work settings. I was able to form close working relationships with several faculty members who genuinely cared about me. In fact, there were times I felt treated more like a colleague than a student, particularly once I started teaching alongside them as an adjunct faculty member for undergraduate courses.
One of my favorite memories was playing alongside the faculty in the annual faculty/graduate students versus undergraduate students softball game. Having earned my Psy.D. has allowed me to pursue a career in which I've gained additional experience and expertise in areas such as forensic assessments, sex offender treatment, and drug abuse treatment.

Evelyn Thomas '25
Being in the music groups was arguably my favorite part of my college experience. I have Dr. Romines and Dr. Hoffenburg to thank for keeping me involved and letting me share my talents as best as I could. I miss everyone there and wish I lived close enough to Scranton to stay involved!
Emily DeLessio '20
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Marywood University's Lehigh Valley satellite campus. I was in the Masters of Social Work program and would not have wanted to start my career anywhere else. The staff dedicated themselves to helping me through the program even when I faced medical issues that required a brief leave of absence. There was no point in which I felt uncertain that I would graduate with Marywood thanks to the wonderful staff's commitment to getting me to graduation.
My coursework was academically challenging and field placements allowed me to think critically in the workplace. I knew my teachers cared about me as a person which meant the world as I faced the anticipated stressors of working while attending graduate school. I am super grateful for all the people and experiences I have had at Marywood University. If I had to do it all again, I would definitely choose Marywood!
Michelle Handy '21
Marywood provides such a great atmosphere to be a part of. Every person I’ve ever met there has been so welcoming and so helpful.
Kaitlin Griggs '22
At first, I didn't know if Marywood or even college was for me. Once I walked on campus for my first tour, I knew this would be my home. From meeting forever friends, to getting involved in so many events hosted by the school, my favorite being glow in the dark rollerskating, and just having so many friendly people on campus, Marywood is not just a connected community, but a family.
Emily Olsen '24
I chose Marywood because it provided the perfect opportunity to continue my athletic career while also pursuing a five year masters degree in speech language pathology. The numerous opportunities and clubs offered here have also allowed me to make lifetime friends and build my resume for a future job.
Angela Genter '23
During my freshman year, I put together a baseball clinic to benefit the Make A Wish Foundation. I was just 18 years old, but there was never any ‘wait, let’s maybe not do this right now.’ Instead, the University was like, ‘All right, what can we do to help?’ It was empowering. With service such a big part of what I did at Marywood, I now want to help others in my career. I’m in the non-profit audit field, helping service organizations work more efficiently so they can accomplish their goals.

Carly DeMaria '24
I really wanted to attend Marywood due to its accredited 3+2 Master’s Program in Speech-Language Pathology with experienced professors. However, coming from a home with a single mom, money was a big issue. When God gave me an incredible scholarship through your generosity, it was God’s way of telling me that Marywood was where He wanted me to go! God used your generosity to equip me with what I needed to continue on the path He has in store for me! Thank you SO much for your generous donation. Because of you, I will be able to graduate with my master’s and practice in a profession that values each individual, regardless of his/her speaking ability. Speech therapists help and encourage those in society who are often deemed unintelligent - which is absolutely untrue! Because of you, I will be able to help so many people with speech disorders/delays reach their full potential! Thank YOU!
Hannah Longacre '22
The interview process for the Resident Assistant position seemed nerve-wracking to me prior to being interviewed. Once I walked into the interview and began to market myself and ‘just be myself,’ the whole process seemed effortless. Plus, it gave me the confidence to know how to apply what I learned from the RA interview to future job interviews.
Gina Nolan '22

I chose Marywood’s internship program because I loved feeling the sense of unity and family-oriented qualities that Marywood University offers to their students.
Brianna Lawless '21
My time at Marywood has been an experience that I will never forget! From the friends I have made in and out of the classroom, the professors who have given me guidance and insight to the career I desire ahead, as well as the support and network the Marywood community has to offer, my Marywood experience has prepared me for the next phase of my life.
Jack DeGroot '21
I truly feel as though my teachers are masters of the visual communication world. It's always an honor to learn from them and get to know them. They are a portal to the vast world of possibilities for artists and designers of all styles. This was the best career development decision I ever made.

I am Peter Howey. I’ve been a student at Marywood since Spring 2016 and have been studying Criminal Justice ever since. I strive to instill all Marywood’s core values by helping everyone that needs help.
Peter Tyler, K. Howey '24
The Spanish program has enhanced my cultural competency, my passion for Nutrition and travel, as well as my motivation to continue breaking communication barriers in my future career and daily life.
Victoria Kaleycik '19
After attending Marywood’s open house, I got that feeling of the close-knit community that I wanted from my college. Everyone seemed to be close with one another, just like I was used to for so many years. Marywood made you feel like you were welcomed in their community. The small classes, the one-on-one with professors, and a great nutrition program are just few of the reasons why I decided to come to Scranton, Pennsylvania. No matter your major, or if you are a commuter or resident, there is always something that will interest you to get involved in.
Nicole Piotrowski '19
I chose Marywood because I wanted to go to college close to home and the facilities at Marywood were breathtaking. I fell in love with the studio spaces immediately during my tour and couldn’t wait to explore them.
Tumnus Moran '21
I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because the faculty is always looking for ways to make the college experience more beneficial to you. They encourage you to make connections between the course content and your personal interests and goals. The art department is full of professionals with great insight and knowledge who genuinely want to help you become more prepared for your future.
Jill Sibio '19
I chose Marywood because the people here are very welcoming and it felt like a home away from home. The dormitories are comfortable to live in; some may say Marywood spoils the students because of how well we live. The facilities for art majors are phenomenal.
Gabby Mitchell '19
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience as a Marywood PhD student. This is the first academic program I was part of to be held on/completed online. It was an enjoyable experience and very user-friendly. All faculty and staff within the PhD in Strategic Leadership in Administrative Studies program have been consistently supportive and available throughout the semesters.
Charles Salvo '22
I absolutely love Marywood. It is the best! With Sophomore year being more like a normal year after the pandemic that has gripped our nation, it honestly has been such an amazing experience so far. The people I have met are wonderful. The teachers and administrators respond to you so fast compared to a bigger campus. I feel like that is what Marywood is all about, family.
Matthew Kelly '24
"I chose to study Criminal Justice because it is one of the majors that got hand in hand with my job in the military. Marywood has instilled important values that help me complete all my assignments in a timely manner without any discrepancies which results in no re-work. This pays dividends in my career because no one wants to have a worker who can’t complete tasks in a timely manner."
Peter Howey '24
I would tell a student looking to come to Marywood University to be prepared to get involved- whether it’s with a club, within the performing arts, traveling abroad or volunteering locally. Marywood has a lot to offer outside of just studying. Everyone is pretty great here and wants to see you succeed. I definitely think the best way to do that is to put yourself out there. You’d be surprised at some of the awesome experiences you can have in your time as a student at Marywood, but if you aren’t ready to put yourself out there you may miss out on some pretty great opportunities."
Alana Gretsky '19
I definitely made the right decision by coming to Marywood! The Communication Sciences and Disorders program is the perfect fit for me. Class sizes are small, allowing for close relationships with classmates and professors. Professors are very kind and helpful, and classes are very interesting. We get lots of clinical experience before going out on externships to help us be prepared. The Marywood community as a whole is very inclusive and welcoming. There is always an activity taking place on campus to attend, and there are so many ways to get involved on campus. Marywood has the best community, and I love being a part of it!
Kristen Persico '22
I chose Marywood because of the small campus and dedicated faculty. These professors care for their students and push them to their full potentials. I would like to thank you for believing in Marywood and the students.
Seth Soriano '22
I loved it. It was challenging but it was supposed to be. I learned so much and I feel like I am ready to be a dietitian. This internship prepared me well.
Mary Beth Tranovich '20
My teacher saw that I was very friendly and positive with other students and conveyed to me that being a Resident Assistant would give me the opportunity to both live on campus and help other students. I thoroughly enjoy meeting new people during orientation and meeting residents and getting to know them.
Juan Cardenas '23
I’ve always loved nutrition, cooking, and trying new foods. I grew up shadowing my mom in the kitchen, and truly enjoyed the ability to create complex, delicious dishes with simple, raw ingredients.
Alison Kucharski '19
I loved Marywood and being able to live in a community where everyone cares and knows everyone. This goes from the fellow students, faculty, and professor. I have such a close relationship with my advisor and other faculty it makes you feel comforted that there are so many people you can go to for advise and help at any time.
Zachary Penzone '21
At Marywood, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in both Computer Science and Information Security, with a minor in Math. I am currently working as a web/software developer and a business analyst. The Computer Science program encouraged me to not only work hard but to also have a passion for the material. The small class sizes allows students to have an interactive experience, in part creating a eminent learning environment. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with my professors and fellow classmates at the university.
Samantha Wigley '19
I loved this program. Even as a distance student, I made close friends with the other distance interns. I feel this connection with peers is important because we supported each other through the process.
Amanda Berardi '20
My favorite nutrition class was social and cultural foods. I really enjoyed learning about the other cultures that we may come across as dietitians and how to cater to them in the field. This class really sparked my interest and gave me a desire to travel and possibly work for a program that benefits individuals in other countries. I loved that this class was a part of the curriculum at Marywood and I am truly thankful I had the opportunity to learn about other cuisines.
Brooke Evans '19
Donors are a big reason that I can do what I do, that other students can do what they do. Donor support plays a vital role in maintaining the momentum that keeps Marywood graduates a cut above the rest.
Sophie French '24
Marywood has been my home away from home for the last three years, going into my fourth! I have felt welcomed since the first day I stepped foot on campus. Marywood’s community is like no other, everyone is always saying hello and willing to lend a helping hand whether it’s a professor or a familiar face you’ve seen around! I have had the time of my life by getting involved in New Student Orientation team and worked my way up from a small group leader to ending as a team leader going into my senior year! There is always something to do on campus and I can’t imagine being a student anywhere else!

Undergraduate Testimonials
My favorite thing about Marywood has to be how inclusive and welcoming everyone is. It’s genuinely an amazing feeling knowing you can just be yourself and act natural without having to worry if you’re fitting in. From the moment you become a pacer, everyone is going to accept you into the Marywood family with open arms.
CJ Shygelski '26
I enjoy my time at Marywood and could not see myself being anywhere else. The small school atmosphere creates a great environment for meeting new people and being not an only recognizable, but known by name by all of your professors. Having the opportunity to go to school at Marywood has been a complete blessing and I have no regrets choosing here for my future.
Zachary Houston '25
Marywood has been great to me in my first year of college. I was very nervous at the beginning of the year because I didn’t know what to expect but Marywood made me feel as if I was home. The close knit community makes the whole college experience welcoming and fun. Being a student athlete can be difficult at times but I have made a lot of new bonds that could last a lifetime. I am excited to see what the next 4 years have in store for me!
Miranda Taveras '27
Marywood has an extremely welcoming community, that has allowed me to flourish as a person and discover many true friends. Nate Rushia '27
I absolutely love Marywood! Everyone is so friendly and I think the community here is really something special!
Sophia Williams '26
I chose Marywood because of the small, friendly campus and the opportunity to be part of the Lacrosse team. I chose to major in Financial Crime Investigation because it seems like an exciting career, giving me the opportunity to solve financial crimes. This career will allow me to make a positive difference in today's society.
Brady Law '27
Marywood has absolutely changed my life! This university has allowed me to combined all my interests, hobbies and passions into an academic program that is perfect for me.
I have met amazing people that I am growing close to everyday and that I can trust. I am having a great time learning about my Architecture major and especially in a beautiful building. With Marywood being a smaller school I have been able to have good relationships with my professors. Even after that semester is over I know I can still be able to go to them for help.
Emily Festa
My love for Marywood continues to grow each and every day! Campus quickly became my second home, thanks to the incredible community and faculty who consistently encourage and support me in all my endeavors. Because of the countless service, academic, leadership, and field opportunities available at Marywood, I am learning to shine my light and become an effective, dynamic educator for my future students!
Allie Taffera '25
Upgrading the program’s environment will provide a new energy to the development as a whole, in the Marywood community. The Nursing Program expansion will bring in a whole new generation of students who will have a bigger and better facility to practice in with state-of-the-art advancement. This will be great for future students!

Shanna Carwell '19
The job of working in athletics came naturally for me. I wanted to pursue a field where the work I did would be meaningful to others for the long term. Becoming a physician assistant is what I want out of my life. And, while the thoughts of quitting have crossed my mind, I stuck it out, and continue to strive for my goal. I concentrated all my efforts on digging deep and making that decision to pursue a physician assistant degree. Being at Marywood is a good decision. I can’t imagine getting through this pursuit without Dr. Palmiter’s guidance. I’m glad to have her as a resource.
