Immerse Yourself in the Future with Virtual Architecture
The Virtual Architecture program at Marywood University will prepare students to design immersive architectural environments for films, video games, and other forms of virtual and extended realities. This interdisciplinary degree will share coursework with our two existing, professional degree programs in Architecture and Interior Architecture. Building on synergies with these existing programs, the Virtual Architecture program will specialize in environments, interactions, technology, space, culture, and the digital humanities. Graduates have the opportunity for agency within these economies to establish forms of practice outside the traditional discipline, trailblazing the expertise of architecture into imaginative new realms.
Virtual Architecture students benefit from an integrative curriculum that requires:
- Design studios starting with beginning design, and then expanding into full scale interactive mixed reality installations to fully immersive purely virtual environments and everything in between.
- Expertise in architectural production technologies and their related and alternate applications centered around a students particular interest
- Building technology courses in structures, systems, and environmental factors
- Representation courses building skills in analog/digital craft, as well as digital rendering, animation, and fabrication
- History and theory courses incorporating diverse perspectives in the humanities alongside digital reconstructions of historically accurate game environments
- Program electives in Art, Communications, Computer Science, Music, Psychology, Philosophy, and Theater
I have met amazing people that I am growing close to everyday and that I can trust. I am having a great time learning about my Architecture major and especially in a beautiful building. With Marywood being a smaller school I have been able to have good relationships with my professors. Even after that semester is over I know I can still be able to go to them for help.
